I was wondering what happened to ya. Said to myself..." I wonder if TX game wardens had something to do with your disappearance?"
Ha! We actually finally got a good warden over here Uncle Swamp, young country boy, that seems to act right and got a head on his shoulders. We run out all the other ones.
I got a story for you, Sir. I actually do have ALOT of respect for good wardens, and this is why............
When I was 15, me and three of my buddies got an old bluetick hound from an old local well respected houndsman that was aging. He gave him to us, and just wanted us to hunt him and then come tell him the stories. We were in the woods all the time then and trapping whopping $8 dollar 36" green coon. Most of what we got was $5 or $2 dollars.
Being 15, we didn't care too much about our neighbors fencelines as most of them never cared about us hunting and trapping and they knew who we were. There was one big LO downriver though that was not that friendly. Even the local farmers didn't care too much for him, he was just a rich Ahole. We turned that hound lose, and guess where he went? Yep, he tree'd right in an open pasture on that unfriendly neighbors place in a big pecan tree. Well, being 15 years old, we made the track as didn't have a way to contact the LO, and probably wouldn't have anyway cause we were gonna take our chances and get our dog. We got our coon and we got our dog. When we made it back to the truck, the LO was there, several deputy sherrifs, and the Gamewarden.
We got our butts reamed good from the LO, the deputies, and the Gamewarden. The warden took our coon and gave us all tickets for hunting without LOs consent and some other crime I can't remember. He continued to ream us out pretty good until all the other deputies and the LO left, and then he left.
When we left from there, we went straight to the house and the Gamewarden was sitting in the driveway with my buddies Oldman. He took all of our tickets and gave us our coon back. Chewed our butts a little more, and said not to worry about it just don't tell no one. That was 31 years ago, and the Warden later became Sheriff for 16 years and died in office. Much Respect.
