~4.5 inches tall, very heavy and had a threaded stud on the one end and shaped out for a wrench to tighten etc..

Have heard of them called, barn jacks. Bigger ones were used by barn framers , and probably other trades for heavy. lifting. I have a small one about 10 inches high and one about 18 inches high. . old 243

Yep I'm going to try to work it ovah. I would like to find out if the stud that is above the nut on that jack. If it is threaded also. I took a wrench to the threaded stud that goes down into the jack and it turn out with no problem The thread stud looks brand new that was threaded.
