No use for one. It takes me near 4 hrs to mow with my gasoline powered mowers. Almost 4 acres to mow and trim. Maybe for a very small area I see some city folks using battery powered mowers and plug in mowers.

Electric riding mowers are supposed to be getting pretty good. Some will cut over 2 1/2 acres on 1 charge. You can keep them going longer by having extra batteries to quickly swap. I'd love to try one on my farm, before buying one, if it works out. I'm hesitant to just buy one.

It costs me around $15.00 in gasoline every time I fully mow. Electric should cost a small fraction of that. Most claim to run 8 miles an hour, which is a little faster than my current ancient John Deere. The noise is supposed to be 1/4 of the volume of a gas motor. The cut is supposed to be smoother. No oil changes would be another advantage. Overall maintenance is supposed to be significantly less for electric mowers.

I have huge elevation changes and want to see what that does to battery life. With a gas mower, I have to go much slower, to avoid losing cutting power, going up some of the steeper grades.

If you buy one, please let us know how it works out.

My next door neighbor is a single middle aged woman and she has a fairly small yard. Has a ‘lectric mower and she loves it. She showed me how she can lift it with just one hand! It’s light as a feather

The electric push mowers are often designed to be hung after use. One of the things I worry about on the electric riding mowers is that being light, they might be easy to roll on steep grades.

Does Tesla make a riding mower yet? Better yet, a riderless, self-driving mower? If so, I'm in! laugh

I thought it was city people with the big lawns. We have 40 acres, mostly woods. We have to cut grass on our septic system and a small border area around Zim's gardens. Otherwise, we're no fans of grass.

I am wondering what the noise level would be with an electric mower. If they're a lot quieter, that's where the appeal would be to me. I hate the noise.

The battery powered saws and trimmers work good enough for most duties around a small yard, not convinced on the mowers, maybe if you have a nice lawn of good grasses...the rough grasses and weeds in my yard might be a challenge, lol

Electric grid already maxed out in a lot of the country. Then the bozos in Washington push this electric stuff as if the vast majority of power doesn't come from fossil fuels anyway.

More feel good ideology, with less performance most of the time....Save the planet, Lol.

A lawyer friend of mine and his dad both have robotic, battery operated mowers. The dad has a pair of them. When you first buy them, they program them to avoid certain areas like rock piles, gardens or whatever and they lay out a border for them.

They are sort of like Roomba vacuum cleaners.

They run constantly, except when they are getting low on battery power. Then they automatically find their charging station, dock themselves, and stay there until their batteries are topped off. And then they begin mowing again.

Eh...wot?

But I no longer have problems starting the darn things or cleaning carburetors....No ethanol free gas here and gas treatments only go so far.

Ego makes a darn good electric 56 Volt mower. It will mow one lot no problem
Very quiet
They also make weedeaters, leafblowers and other tools
Extra batteries are expensive. A mower with battery and charger was $600 a few years ago.
They also make a zero turn mower but comes without the 4 batteries required. Very expensive batteries.

I have and like the EGO chainsaw. I plan on getting their weedeater. Their riding mowers are rated pretty good. They aren't cheap.

That's not why I'm thinking about getting one.

Do you own any cordless tools? Drill or impact driver? It's all about ease and convenience. Nothing ticks me off more that messing with cords. And mowing without smelling like gasoline and exhaust is nice. And quiet.

A big advantage of battery powered tools, mowers and vehicles is that electric is significantly cheaper to use then gasoline. Plus you usually don't have to worry about it running out or going bad, if you live in a conservative state.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who had to run to town to buy gasoline, while in the process of mowing.

I use this mower. Love it. Only takes 45 minutes to do my yard. Can use the batteries in my strikemaster ice auger. Don't smell like gas. Never have to get gas.
