So my wife and little girl came home the other day with a $500 pool they bought at Academy. They wanted me to set up.

Being that we have two tanks, a spring fed creek with good cold deep holes, and a gravel bar; I was upset about it, but I said OK lets fill it up with the well and see what happens.........

And thus with the seemingly innocent creation of the concrete pond/swimming pool, a clever deception was wrought upon mankind; turning blissful summer days into a hellish nightmare. Where once peace and tranquility existed, sadly no longer for a clever new form of punishment had been created.......the swimming pool.

We have one, it’s not bad, just gotta make sure it is level. My neighbor who has a fancy leveling machine and a skid steer came over and helped.

Just gotta get a decent pump and test the water all the time.

I cleaned pools in Highschool , there is a reason I do not and have not ever owned one.

I was thinking about getting a stock tank to put in the back yard and soak in when I feel like it. I also have not gotten to that.

I despise the thing Rob. We have well water and got to get the pH and and iron levels right. Just something I don't have time to deal with, but my girls like it.
Guess I'll have to do some learning and remember that patience is a virtue.

I used well water also, took samples to a local pool place and the young lady hooked me up. $30 dollars later I was good. I mean, I have to go back every two weeks with another sample, but… the wife and kids are happy.

I agree though, if i had a nice creek in the back yard or fishing pond, we’d be in that.

Once you get the initial figured out its just that over and over again. Not knowing how much of this and that at first is overwhelming. Once you get going you figure out its a couple cups of this and a couple cups of that each week.

If you aren't pumping and circulating the water though I imagine there isn't a lot to do with it though expect dump it and fill it when you want fresh.

Well water uses an iron out product. Note if your woman have blonde hair to watch dumping colorful blue things into the water thinking you are treating it. Blonde hair + Aqua Blue = Green Hair.

Your water hasn't turned to algae yet but that more comes into play when you are trying to kill it.

In the course of 25 years and a generation of grandkids Pools are a grandkid's baitpile for sure but time marches on and grandkids become young adults and scatter all over the Country and visits are fewer. Opening & closing the pool became too much work as did the constant work keeping it crystal clear!

A salt system,good cover and robotic cleaner sure do simplify pool maintenance.After all it’s only money-can’t take it with you.

Gotta be a creek close by. More fun than a pool. U can catch critters in there. I have a small pool for my kid. I hate it. I spend more time messing with it than he does in it. This year its up to him and mom to keep it going.
