Trump has publicly called for eliminating the debt ceiling so the government can borrow money without pause. The big beautiful bill will add 6 trillion to our debt. Where would this put us in three years with the higher interest rates? Will we ever have a government that actually pays down on principal? (Clinton was the last to do so) It's obvious the golden citizenship ticket didn't deliver as promised lol

I couldn’t find where it would eliminate the debt ceiling just where musk stated it would raise the ceiling.

I’m against that and all new spending and most existing spending by the government.

Clinton didn't balance the budget if you have followed history. What he did was have one of the highest budgets of the time and at the end we spent less then what his budget was. So, he claimed he balanced the budget which was a twisted fabrication. That is how he got the name SLICK WILLIE!

He also raised taxes for you and I and was the blame for the housing and bank bust a few years after he left office. Took away laws for low income people to have them buy homes. There was a 70% default from those people that caused a disaster for banks and the economy. He made him look good while in office but is was all smoke and no substance to his time in office.

Easy to say you balance the budget when it was crazy high and new he would spend less to have that fabricated lie.

Im not sure people realize how much money got turned off from going out... they suspect those savings to pay for all the debt or be a very large portion of it... to the point where they hope to eliminate income tax for a range of household incomes. At one point that was anyone making less that $150,000 but I think the bill that got approved took that to $60k or something.

Doge literally found at least four computers just printing checks going out from the govt that didn't need the reason for request to be filled out. Literally just checks rolling out with no explanation.

I like to think that there is so much to scale that by not doing that anymore pays for a lot of our own things.

Its unclear how much of that is real or not but I sure don't see it being covered on the news but they absolutely announced finding those four stations just printing checks... which does nothing but drive up inflation.

Not doing that anymore should bring inflation down right and also reduce our overall national debt?

People should be asking themselves if they are saving the government so much money why are they needing to borrow more money than ever then use a little common sense

Why not ask all the millionaire members of Congress how we can save money? They seem to have a system figured out on how to line their pockets and make money. grin

Common sense tells me their ability to make money and the debt ceiling are somehow connected

sounds like you are in favor of taking a meat cleaver to the budget? welfare, social security, farm subsidies, foreign aid...

I'm sure you voted for such cuts...

Here's a good diagram of the savings from DOGE. While any spending cut is a good thing, DOGE cuts amount to a drop in the bucket compared to what gets spent every year.

As far as wanting a fiscally responsible budget, everyone knows that only matters when you're not the party in power. Excessive spending is just a thing to criticize the other team for, it's not something to actually be dealt with when your team is the one doing the spending.

I did, and proud of it.

Didn't hear all ya whiners when the dems passed a 1.2 Trillion dollar bill that got us a whole 8 electric car chargers while nothing went to important stuff like the air traffic control I that they are now wanting money for, along with inflation thru the roof.

Let the plan play out,

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Bassent knows they can't cut spending enough, so his plan is to try and outgrow it. Its a gamble, but probably the only way that keeps the USA from defaulting/collapsing. It is a difficult proposition, especially when you only have support from about 40% of the country as a result of partisan politics. You don't have to cheer for Trump, but at least cheer for the USA. IE. be optimistic.

Not well when you have activist judges and the entire (100%) democratic party in opposition to it.
