Thought maybe we should make a thread on shooting/trapping summer nuisance critters. Just shot this thirteen-lined ground squirrel that was digging around our septic system with my .22

Anybody else do any pest shooting?

I shoot crows and foxes that pester our sheep and lambs and pigs that wallow in our stock watering points. I also shoot any English sparrows that I see.
I also shoot mice around the sheds and house with a slug gun
Btw that is a nice .22, what brand is it?

Nice! I like to shoot English sparrows too. They eat our chicken food. You shoot mice with a slug gun??? I guess you know if you hit one if it disappears after you shoot!! laugh

Thanks, it is a Sears Roebuck & Co model 41-103

In Australia a slug gun is basically slang for a .177 air rifle.
What does it mean in America?

Ohhhh, OK that makes much more sense!!! A slug gun here would be a shotgun designed for firing slugs (Which is basically a big bullet in a shotgun shell instead of bbs)

A 12 gauge slug is capable of killing any north american animal.

Nice .22, Cowboy! It looks very similar to my Rock Island Armory.

Haven’t been doing much pest control lately, but last week I was able to kill a squirrel with a blow gun! It is definitely way harder than with a .22, but it’s kinda fun!

I have been trying to use a whole array of weapons for squirrels. So far I have successfully killed squirrels with a slingshot, a .22, a shotgun, throwing rocks, and now a blowgun. The next weapon is my bow and arrow!

I have never even seen a squirrel before, but I hear they are pretty tasty.
Do you have a picture of that blowgun husky?

Also does anyone else use air rifles?
Ours is a stoeger break- barrel in .17 cal.
When I am shooting mice around the house I actually use chicken food pellets. The just break up and don’t ricochet, but the have some pretty explosive terminal performance on mice within about 10 yards

I don’t have a picture of the blow gun right now, but I’ll get one soon for you.

I don’t have an air rifle anymore. My last one’s air pump failed and I haven’t had the time to replace it.
