Teaching to get the corect answer or how to ask the right questions.

I will let this sit a while and come back later to expand some.

Well, there's usually more than one way to get a correct answer.

Answers to questions often create more questions
But that's how we learn cause and affect

Some things require the right answer, like math.

Others may have a correct answer, but knowing how to get there is often more important, and useful.

if you are asking , is providing info and having them repeat it back correctly , education , no not really but it is what passes for education these days because the standard is test x% at age x to determine if you are meeting the metrics.

far more important to learn how to learn , learn how you learn , and then use that in a project setting

some things are the foundation to learning like reading , writing , arithmetic but they are also to be understood and not minimally memorized.

working in multiple number systems is a huge thing not many people do any more , but when you realize it is the key to working in fractions something people also don't do well any more.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Pretty broad questions and depends on a few things

Is the teacher qualified and unbiased towards the answers or the questions, how are the questions presented, vocally or with detailed projection, one or both could have different answers, is this correct or wrong, how does one denote either answer

What's the age group being taught, are they old enough to think the question through

Are they able to answer in a manner capable of understanding their answer

What's the right question, what's the wrong answer

Who decides either and why

Even the wrong answers can give you a correct solution in certain circumstances

Correct answers are not always the correct solution either

Food for thought !

Depends on the individual you are teaching and which one they are better at.

Teaching to help learners find the most logical way to find the correct answers for things that have finite answers, like algebra, chemistry etc. which have formulas that help set up logical processes.
Also hard to know the "right" questions to ask to a group of 20-40 minds. Helping those to be able analyize and synthesize information so the can better make up their own minds makes more sense to me than trying to figure out the better questions to ask. That may come after a lot more time working with a group instead of early on.

It's been a busy day and I forgot about this. Now it's late.

Some basic thing I think the process need taught to get the right answer. basic math is a good example. but it can be taught more than one way.

Geting more advanced it's memorizing formulas and orders to solve for a variable. I always struggled rembering the formulas and hated algebra and bombed most of the test BUT the 4 word problems at the bottom I always got all correct where those that did well on the top section had trouble with the word problems.

I think it is because I need to know what and why I'm trying to solve for vs looking at letters and numbers and memorizing a process.

Aside from math.

I believe it's more important to teach how to think, question, and reason. Often that starts with why or what or how. Maybe if then. Some things can be right and still wrong. If they/we can figure out the right questions working out the answers takes the same thinking to get the anser as to ask the right question.

Thinking inside the box limits you. Here is an example.

at work ther was a 36lb coil of aluminum they sit on their sid and we use a c hook on a Crain to lift them up and put them in the melter. this one's center has telescope and they could not get it picked up the c hook would not go deep enough in to get to the center and it keep wanting to flip over.

Everyone was stumped management called in an outside firm to consult and figure out what to do with it. They came up with nothing. I had been off for a week and came back and saw it and asked why they never charge it in the furnace. They told me. I looked at it for a min and asked why don't we just turn it around 180°. They looked dumb founded. I turned it around the c hook picked it up like normal and problem was solved.

No one asked the right question. Some times it's a simple answer right in front of us. Just because it's always been done this way dose not mean it's the best or only way.
