Was just outside 0n my deck enjoying the quiet darkness and some tobacco-- when a loud banging, started. After a minute or so with no let up; I stumbled around the house to see what was causing the racket.
Turns out it was my air conditioner--got back in the house and turned off the the air.I got a light and went back out thinking maybe a stick is what the blades were hitting.
I found nothing in it to cause all the noise, then on top of the conditioiner I found a sot of blood and a thumbnail size piece of bloody meaty fur,Now I will have to wait till daylight and look around. I just have no idea what kind of animal it could be--it had to be of some size to keep the blades bangin for at least 4 minutes--the thing is the small spaces open on the top of the conditioner--just adds to my confusioin.

If had happened during the day,but I have never seen squirrels moving around here once it gets dark.And I am out on the deck every night to smoke about every hour till 3 am

Flying squirrels move at night but are pretty small to cause that much Noise.

that possum seed stock i sent ya years ago has took aholt at last.

Geez Tom, you go to bed just before I get up.

If old people go to bed early they wet the bed….

Finally went to investigate
Found a dried up juvenile rat snake on the grate with enough head and body hanging through to catch the blades as they spun

I'm betting flying squirrel

Give the condenser fan a real good look for bent or cracked blades.

Mouse or bat would be my guess.

Got to check it out in the light--I am still confused--found a couple more blood spots. 3 feet from the conditioner on the house,

Its going good now-no ill effects from chopping up parts of some animal, Real glad as its supposed to hit 99 and 98 this weekend,
