I was in a store and bought some clothing items which included 4 T- shirts. When I got to the truck and checked my receipt they only charged me for 3 T- shirts.
Would you go back and pay for the 4 th shirt or not.?

I have to go back plenty with bottled water on the bottom of the cart. Always forget that and the cashier never pays no attention.

Hum, I might take into consideration who the retailer is. Local Mom&Pop - go back for sure.

It depends. Small mom and pop shop - absolutely. A big department store where I'm going to wait in line to talk to someone who is going to have to call a manager and I'll spend half an hour trying to give them more money...probably not.

Not those big box stores where you get bent over all the time

Like items that were supposed to be on sale and you find out they rang up full price. But not until you got home and checked the receipt. 10 miles back to the store , wait in line , wait for manager , ....for 6 bucks

Years ago I bought a new office chair on ebay from a lost freight liquidator. They shipped me two instead of one. I contacted them twice through ebay's message system explaining what happened and telling them if they'd send me a shipping label I'd send the extra one back. They never replied. I suspect the person reading their ebay messages was the same person who made the mistake and they'd rather ignore it than have to explain to their boss why one was getting sent back. Just guessing though.

After my second message was ignored, I sold the extra one on craigslist.

But I left them a positive feedback for the sale. I said: Item exactly as described but twice the deal I was expecting!

They probably felt pity for you and decided to let you have a freebie!!

The last couple of times I told the person working at the service desk at Walmart that they didn't charge me for an item, they told me not to worry about it. Both times the missed item was less than $10.00.

If the stores screw up either way, I just wait until the next trip to say something. It's not worth a special trip back to me. Usually they ring items more times than they should, rather than miss an item. The stores probably screw up two or three times a year.
