I have nothing clever to put here.

I remember it well, quit trapping because thieves took everything during the night! Wasn't worth it, when they just came along and took everything you tried to do. Not sorry either but have no love for night hunters!
We have met the enemy and the enemy is us!

Fall of 78 I was a senior in HS and decidrd to skip school the first week of trapping season. My father caught up to me the following Saturday and asked where I had been so I showed him my fur check. I made more in that week than both of my parents did that month. Nothing more was said about me skipping school after that.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

90 critters out of 100 traps. Amazing Feed em for 3 months, they will be there Back then it was worth it to buy sweet feed or creep pellets & mix in a little other and have them waiting for opening day. Different times.

I don't remember what I caught and sold in 80 or 81, I remember 84, I caught and sold 350 coyotes and had another 50 stolen. I averaged $68. I had to sell 150 early, my youngest son was born in December we had no insurance and the hospital wanted their money up front. I teas my son that I paid for him with coyote hides Theft was bad took alot of sly moves for sure

Fall of '79 spring of 80 was the high point for coons, I averaged $50.00 per pelt (finished) for just over 600 coons plus $5.00 each for the meat, so $55.00 each. Caught enough coons the first night to buy a new pickup. Fall of 80, spring of 81 was high point for reds and grays, averaged $95.00 for reds and $70 for grays on 322 put up fox (about half reds and half grays). All were snared. Those were great days
