Soon folks will be thinking about stealing skunks out your trucks or traps that’s a hoot.

A lot more than needed for sure, then it will take a couple years to move them, the price will drop noticeably, the remainder will be bought, making it look like demand just increased, lots more will be taken and the market won't be there !!

Yup, I can see it in my minds eye. A whole new generation of “skunk wranglers” out there grabbing skunks by their tails while wearing their white Hazmat suits looking like an old Casper the Ghost cartoon as they run across the field headed for their vehicle!

I'll probably sell mine at my assn. auction. It's usually a week or two before my FHA pickup. This way I'll probably get a decent price for my skunks and let the buyer take the gamble at FHA.
I've done this before when I think the market will get saturated and prices may dive and it's worked for me. If the market doesn't tank, I may have not gotten top price, but still a decent one.

I remember stories during the Depression of guys catching skunks early and keeping them alive in a chicken coop to prime up.

Seth and Mick will be rolling in the $$ come next season if the prices hold on the skunks.

You better start testing the better skunk baits and lures to maximize your potential.

Im not a very good skunk trapper Bob but I did try to call Mick to see how many he had at the auction. He's talking about slowing down but 80 skunks might give him his second wind. Lol

I know where to get good skunk baits and lures Bob, just dont sell out before I order some. Market will be gone before I came up with anything good. Look what happened to the coyote market to me. Lol

1000 in March, 2000 in June. Looking at the past offerings that’s a little more than usual but the late auction usually has about 1/3 more than the early one. This last one doubled, but probably because some trappers pay attention to the market…….otherwise I wouldn’t have had as many in the June auction….lol
I’m not going full balls out for skunk in a few months, but I’ll certainly have a lot more “coon” sets out.
Should have a contest on who can get the closest without going over.

2 New ads on Facebook tonight looking for skunks it’s going to get crazy did not see that for coyotes even.

Such a silly little animal causing quite a stir and speculation among the trappers & buyers of the world. This’ll be entertaining for a while….lol

6063 skunks for March FHA sale

last I heard there was an opening for a SKUNK GRADER at the auction house.........
lots of learning to be had since the grades are going to tighten up
no more pitch fork grading....
coyote grader need not apply

I talked with the guy who bought half of the skunks at FHA.
He’s fairly certain that the market will hold for another year.
He pointed out that this was the last chance for the year at a decent amount of skunks for the folks wanting them, so they paid up to ensure that they had enough for the year. He said don’t expect $80 averages in the country, but that it would still be very good.
It’s all about the quality of the tails. The more white on the tail the better.
