Shouldnt think so unless you're trying to coordinate what kind of food to donate so they aren't getting a million cans of beans and nothing else.

I figure the $37 million includes inventory, vehicles for delivery, and salaries. They also boast 125 parking spaces. I can't wait until it's finished. I have questions.

The food banks I'm familiar with operate out of our local churches. They work off donations and purchase shortfalls from the regional food bank. People are allowed one visit/month unless it is an emergency. Our parish also provides full BF and Dinner for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Local businesses have food drives and other organizations do food drives. People are usually allowed to sign up for one food bank, but you have people who "use " the system.

Local church here has a food pantry. Its a cabinet on a pole in front of the church. People put stuff in and others take it out.

I work at the food bank at our church. We buy food from Southern Michigan food bank with donations. Recipients are required to provide ID, names and addresses. We receive donations from churches, and local food drives.

We offer a list and they are allowed to choose from that list. Since it's in our basement, I carry their order out to their car.

I can say this. They get maybe one week worth of food once a month.

The vast majority is seniors, disabled vets, cancer and heart problems. I worry about them when they don't show up for awhile. God Bless 'em.
