Last I saw they had put in the elimination of the 200 tax on suppressors, sbr and sbs. Will still need approval and still be i NFA regulated. We will see if that stays.
If it stays it may lay the ground work tor removal from the NFA. The Nfa is only legal because it's a tax same as social security. But not holding my breath
Both the SHORT act and Hearing Protection Act got pulled by the unelected democrat appointed parlimentarian using the BYRD rule as her excuse. Byrd Rule essentially says that only tax related items can be included in a tax reconciliation bill. The rest of the BBB got advanced for a floor vote, after tossing in some pork for the few GOP holdouts of course. LOOKING AT YOU JOSH HAWLEY, R MO. And of course both parts were tax related as they only removed the taxes on SBRs and suppressors and did not remove them from the NFA, they would be treated the same as any other NFA FIREARM. IE, not destructive devices but firearms on a 2274 not the class whatever rigamarole.
If it passes the Senate floor vote, and it probably will, it goes back to the House for a vote then on to the president. Theoretically, they can be added back in as an amendment before the floor vote but it won't happen as that most likely will lose a few GOP holdouts like Murkowski and Collins that only came onboard due to extra pork just for them.
The more I think on this the more I wonder if this wasn't the plan all along. It most certainly got a whole bunch of us riging the phones to pass a bill chock full of garbage on the chance of getting what should already be our's by right.
They knew full well that they had a last minute backstop to keep it from going through.
We got played!
