What if you believe that, according to the Bible, that it’s 6000 years old? Kinda conflicts with the billions of years old kinda theory.
I kinda remember reading something about one of those telescope discoveries… when they got their pictures back and other data… that instead of finding newer and younger galaxies, they found out, it was the same age as ours.
I think it’s kinda cool and supports that the universe, as we know it, was created in one day.
I’m not a scientific expert, nor a braniaic physicist,, but I do believe that everything they are finding out was indeed created by the one true master , who exists beyond, and is not subjected to the constraints of time.

The Bible was also not originally written in English, but instead Greek and Hebrew. The English translation of course lists creation being done in a weeks time. But you also have to consider that when the Bible was written as well it was done by civilizations with less understanding of the world than we have today. The human mind can really only comprehend and appreciate time frames, distances, and the like as we see them on earth. I don't think anyone can truly appreciate how long 1 million years is or far 1 million miles is.
Could it be that that God told the original writers that "First I created light, next I created the skies, followed by me making the earth and waters" and so on. And then the easiest way man can interpret His order of creation is to give each stage a day. Just something to consider.
I don't want to sow doubt in anyone's minds on what their beliefs are, but I don't think there will be an entry quiz to Heaven on the age of the Earth or the literalness on the time-frames presented in these conundrums. I think what matters is your faith in who is responsible for creation. Do you believe in a thoughtful, all-knowing, and Almighty Creator, or do you believe in slim chances and coincidences?

For those that haven't heard about it, the new Vera C. Rubin Observatory is expected to discover 20 billion new galaxies over the next decade. Located on a mountain in Chile's Atacama Desert, the giant telescope is connected to the world's largest and highest resolution digital camera. Rubin’s 27-foot primary mirror, paired with a mind-boggling 3,200-megapixel camera, will repeatedly take 30-second exposure images of space. They have just started releasing the first images this month.

I believe it, I just can't comprehend it. It always amuses me to hear someone pronounce that "there is no God"....because the notion of such a thing is so incomprehensible to them. We can't even comprehend the physical; how can a person be expected to comprehend the Spiritual.

100%. Just read an original book from the 1800s and try to make heads or tail out of what they’re trying to say. Now you throw in conversions and 2000 years into the mix, easily gets completely twisted.

Why do they continue to put a finite number (20 billion) on something that is obviously infinite? If this new fangled telescope can see 20 billion galaxies what do they think is beyond that, if not 40 billion more? Where does that all end? Why can't we accept that there are things we can't explain or comprehend?

People tend not to believe what they can't comprehend, whether that be science or religion. "It doesn't make sense to me, therefore it must not be true."

Ive seen the exact opposite too. It sounds good so it must be true. Especially if it gets repeated enough.

An old universe does not necessarily equal an old earth. The Bible says God created in the beginning. We don't know how much time went by ( if time means anything outside gravity) before he formed earth into something that supports life. There could be 100 billion years between the initial creation and the earth project. There could even have been life before, then an extinction event before God turned the dark, lifeless earth into what we know today.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I haven't read about the 10 billion year old sound waves but I've looked into a lot of stuff similar and when you look into them they are built around theory stacked upon theory stacked upon theory which isn't real science. They then depend on someone proving them wrong instead focusing providing the theories right. To much theory driven false science out there. Lot of it is agenda driven. Very much similar to how those who want to believe in big foot "analysis" evidence.
