I was messaged via Facebook by what appeared to be a person I know and respect. He was telling me about a grant I could receive, he also told me how he was blessed. That is what made me suspicious, that did not sound like something he would say. I have become convinced he has hacked the Facebook of the person I know. Should I just ignore him, or should I let him know I am onto him? He posted a link for me to get started on applying for the grant, I did not open the link.

Let your real friend know he was hacked via something other than facebook.

Don't click on anything.

You should ignore that person on Facebook and contact the real person by phone, who has likely been hacked. Don't click the link unless you hear by phone it is real.

I do not have any contact information for the person I know, I am in the process of trying to get their home phone number. I thought I had their email address, but I can't locate it.

Have you messaged the person, your real friend, on facebook, before? If so, that message is likely still his account and you can contact him here. The hackers usually make a new account that mirrors people's account... your friend's original account is probably still legit.

Ask him some questions only he would know about you.

Hippie, that is what I did, and since he did not answer my questions, I became sure it was a hack job. I asked if he knew a mutual friend, and asked how his wife was doing? I did not say wife, but told her real first name.

Ignore him. He's looking for an active account to hack. You will be next if you reply!
