Just seeing if anyone runs coon lines dairy to dairy. I’ve got around 80–100 dairies in the northern part of my county and I’m thinking about taking on 25 at a time for three 10-day stretches, so around 30 days total. Planning to do it in November and maybe a little into December.

I don’t have permission yet, but I’m going to start knocking on doors soon. Seems like there’s always coons around silage, barns, and feed areas, so I figure it could be a good run.

If anyone’s done something like this before, I’d appreciate any advice. Mostly planning to run DPs

Ran a lot of dairy farms in late 70's early 80's for coon/fox. Bread and butter money makers before coyotes destroyed the red fox population.

Madcotrappwr, Tim Henry, who used to be active here, but who has now disappeared, was trapping dairies in Madison County, just South East of me. He trapped lots if coon. He also trapped lots of coyotes at the dead pits. The dead pits are excellent places to snare and trap near for pretty much all meat eating furbearers in Ohio.

I wish Tim would come back to Trapperman. He seems to be a good guy. I've been to his place and he's been here before.

I've never done it, but it sounds like a good idea. Should be plenty of critters on those farms. Scouting will tell the tale.

Only problem trapping dairy farms, is all the cats.
Trust me , they say they don't care.
But when the missus finds out, there's trouble.
I trapped a few and used 20+ cage traps.
Caught 31 on one farm, and 26 on the other.
Make sure of where you place the cages, as if they can grab ahold of anything, it'll be inside the cage with them.
DP's can be a problem with cats also.

I believe Foundryman said he was leaving the west for somewhere in the east. My guess is he was maybe gonna put the good word in for you.

One of the issues we have here is that almost all the corn is gone by November 1st due to silage and snaplage and then thousands of gallons of liquid manure, so the coons have moved to other areas with standing corn and will come back to the bunkers and piles around Thanksgiving, so the easy coons to catch here are not hardly marketable. Most dairies also would like those coons gone in August to Sept. so working with them for an ADC fee per animal may be better for the trapper.

The places I trapped , the coon would climb right into the feed bunkers.
They would climb into the silos also.
Yes while there's milk in the corn, coon will come from miles away to get it!
They still like dry corn , but there's other snacks they like better.
Ground up feed is what they go after in the colder months.
