what do you folks use for your reloading scales, brand and model if you can be specific. I have a Lyman I think was about 70 dollars. my son has moved back home after exiting the Spec Ops community and is currently shooting these rimfire matches. He is wanting to get into the PRS shoots but wants the most accurate scales and calipers. I have been looking at a good many but dang they are expensive. I know you get what you pay for, so, since he is the one paying I dont mind that one bit. The loads I have developed are tested out to 880 yards. They are far more accurate that I am on my best day. my best groups were 5" in 5 shot groups. thats good enough for me. not sure if he can improve much on the load recipes I have for the 6.5 CM. He has a 6mm Seekings barrel that he is looking to get on an action but I am not sure what action he has settled on but I know what chassis he has. Optic will be a behemoth Zero Tolerance 8x32 and the tube on that rascal is larger than our 34mm tubes on our NF's, Vortex Razors and a new Leupold mark something.

I dont know how far they shoot in these matches but dang. I think my son is going overkill on all of his stuff.

I use a Dillon D Terminator digital scale. - $150

Had it over 10 years , no problems.

I suppose it matters as to how these scales are going to be used? Choices are balance beam or digital. Me having the old school analog mind, I stick with balance beam. Lyman D5 or D7 (made by Ohaus) works well and it goes beyond accuracy. The shape of the cup and material it is made from matters too. My old Texan scale is as accurate, but the shape of the cup makes it awkward to use.

The only time I use scales heavy is during load development when you are building load ladders. Once the load is settled on, a powder measure is accurate enough to 99% of all uses. And believe it or not, the dinky, silly looking plastic Lee perfect powder measure is my pick of the litter.

the RCBS chargemaster is what Cattrax was using before his passing. he sure liked it.

Charge master light . Would highly recommend getting a nice beam scale ( don't have to go crazy though just something better then the little lee or cheaper RCBS ones ) and some check weights as well though. These electronic ones tend to "Float" if you leave something in the pan for too long

I use a RCBS beam scale that i have had since the 1980's. It will do everything I need it to do but it isn't fast to use. For accuracy I weigh every load for my CF rifles. If I was going to shoot PRS or other high volume shooting sport where a high level of accuracy is crucial to be competitive, I would look at the Chargemaster or equivalent digital.

I just load for a few hunting rifles but I use a Hornady beam scale and double check each charge on a cheap Lyman digital. I've also used an electronic Hornady but it fluctuates like crazy and ended up driving me crazy so I went back to the balance beam.

My 70s vintage RCBS beam scale weighing in grains works great.

.1 grain accuracy on my rcbs chargemaster and it will flash to let you know. Will have accurate weight ready before you are.......

Beam scales. Have had Lee, rcbs, and dillion. all worked every time.

Had a digital Lyman got rid of it. Was to temperamental, bounced around to much, never trusted it.

RCBS 505. One and done. I'm loading for hunting and target. No interested in shooting hundreds of rounds at a time.
The 505 has never let me down.

A great little scale for sure. BUT if that little thumb-tab on the brass tray is broken off it will make enough difference to blow up a brand new Smith and Wesson .45. Just sayin.

Gary if it breaks off you will know since that's what you move it with. never had that happen in 20 years of reloading but if it did it's simple to re zero the scale and continued untill you replace it.

I ordered another scale today that is digital to .005. my son is ordering one that is digital but plus or minus.001. I have no clue why I ordered this one other than to load my .223 and .308 pills. Also the 6.5 CM. although, i just dont shoot them much anymore. now the 44 mangrum and the .460, oh yeah I shoot them.

What Hippie posted is what I have. Great scale but not what I would want to have if I was loading the volume needed for PRS.
