Scared of high places. Use to put my tree stand 6 ft up. That was my limit. Even the video was hard for me to watch.

Interesting work. Never worked out of a helicopter but I have installed them on line.

That sure is a good chopper pilot. Steady hand for sure. Woudn't be much fun on a windy day.

Yo pick the perfect days for those jobs. I have watched them do other jobs and the clip on to that high voltage (transmission voltage) and become the same potential as that energized line.

Sure they have a reason but why wouldn’t they attach them on the lines before they put them up?

would have been right in line with my jobs I used to do. I did line clearance tree work, built 3 smoke stacks, worked several bridges, built and services cell towers and power plants. At the time the higher and more dangerous and less people would or could do it the more I liked it. One day I realized the hmguy on the ground rigging the stuff comming up to me took home the same pay and his biggest risk was me dropping stuff. Something changed over time maybe it was just age. I can and will still do the high work but I no longer enjoy it or feel like a high roller showing off when I rarely do need to be up in the air these days.

A few years back they were working on the big transmission lines by work with a guy dangling about 80 to 100' below a helicopter. My cousin talked to them. They made 150 an Hour and 100% amazing benefits. They were from all over. They traveled for work but sid it's no big deal anytime they want to they just hope in the chopper and head home left early on Friday and got home every weekend.

They pull the lines through pulleys on towers with a helicopter. Have to be put on after.

Just watching the car chase in the Bullitt movie makes my stomach tighten up.

I’m used to working 40-50 feet in the air But at least my feet are on something that’s attached to solid ground. I don’t think I could ever get comfortable doing that helicopter job.

A different potential then. You get burned electrocuted immediately. You attach in the air so it would be like a bird sitting on powers lines. They become the hot line themselves.

Dang, that rig comes with better cup holders than my car.
