We’ve had pigs on this property off and on for the last couple years. I knew they were likely to be a problem this summer when my sorghum started heading out. They were actually a little early though. Millet is headed out, but sorghum still in vegetative stage. This pig showed up two days ago. I went out about 10 am yesterday and put probably 5 pounds of corn on the ground. Sure nuff, at about 11am, he shows up. Stayed until noon, then came back yesterday evening and stayed most of the night. This morning I went out about 10 and put out another couple pounds of corn, but was smart enough to bring a gun. Didn’t take long and my camera went off showing he was back. He brought a girlfriend last night so if she comes in at a reasonable time this evening I may go try to get her too

…. Be thankful you only have a couple

…. But that’s liable to change if you don’t get em killed

Insert profound nonsense here

I think it’s cause I don’t feed deer. They are all around, but only seem to bother me in the summer when the grains are maturing on this place. Everyone around me feeds corn all fall or longer and I think it keeps them from spending much time here. The neighbors do seem to keep them pretty well shot out too which helps

Yeah instead of git her too I'd be for getting him too because I'd put her down the moment I had covered her with my sights. Given a year she will have you knee deep in feral hogs.

Well, I was wrong about his girlfriend. She was a he and a big one at that. Couldn’t lift him into my truck and I don’t generally have any issue with loading up 150 pound critters

Myself I would ask…..
Do you have a large population of feral hogs in your area?
State or county funding any removal projects?

We’ve got a pretty large population. A local trapper here catches over 1,000 every year and there’s several other guys doing hog work in this area. Plus everyone and their brother has a thermal. I don’t fool with them much unless they start tearing stuff up. No idea about funding for removal projects. Think most people pay out of pocket or handle it themselves
