So now ALL in a car has to be belted in. We need to get the folks they used for to lobby better trapping laws.

Stupid laws. I have to be strapped in. But motorcyclist and moped users nothing. No helmets , safety vest, leathers, extra reflectors. Nothing but shorts and flip-flops here.
I suppose it's a way to thin out the stupid ones.
I personally do not like seat belts.

Leo's should concentrate on dui, reckless drivers/ distracted drivers, high speed speeders and just plain stupid drivers.

But not required on school buses ain’t that crazy. Here seat belts are a secondary offense that means you can’t be stopped for not wearing them but if pulled over for another violation then it can be addressed. Same with a license light that secondary also.

I hate the nanny rules but then a 200lb person in a rollover can crush a lot of people by not wearing one theres no fighting that centrifugal force it’s impossible no matter how strong a person is. It’s all what you can live with by your choices.

I don’t wear mine trapping local if I hit the hardtop roads or interstate or bad conditions I put it on. Never wrote a seatbelt ticket except for child restraint ones.

Just a couple months back a grandmother and child drown because couldn't get out of the seat belts.

Ever been to a funeral for a kid that wasn't buckled and died in a car crash? It's not fun.

Another kid from my church is currently in the hospital, he's sixteen, and rolled his car into ditch. Couldn't call 911, was stuck there for a few hours, until his parents realized he's late and found him using some tracking app on his phone. This was last winter. He just recently started eating on his own, and is learning to walk again. He wasn't buckled.

Yes, the occasional "so-and-so died because they were trapped by their seatbelt" case exists. But the fact of the matter is, far more lives are saved by seatbelts.

Never like them, however I do buckle up now, mostly because other drivers seem so intent on talking on the phone while driving, and no is doesn't matter if the phone is on a carrier in the vehicle, talking on one is distracting regardless of where and how it's done in the vehicle !!

It's insanity, in Kentucky I can ride a motorcycle with no seat belt, no helmet, and my passenger can too.

Remember getting a $25 seat belt ticket a few years back from a state trooper who kindly spewed safety stats while writing the ticket.

Drove straight home, fired up the Harley and went back & drove past where he was parked, with no helmet, no seat belt and waved and smiled at him, Lol.

Got one one time in a 93 f150 because I had it buckled but under my arm because of some severe sunburn ticketed me anyway for improper usage and I’m very surprised my mouth rattling didn’t get me in more trouble but I used to donate to police associations after to bad for them

Grew up with cars that didn't have them, I rarely use one in the truck. My wife won't let me start her car without it being buckled....

I don’t like them I don’t force adults to wear them but the line of “ejected not wearing seatbelt” is a common phrase too often. They bother me on long trips the chest hairs annoy the skin it’s distracting trying to stay comfortable.

Bet a lot more folks die from being thrown than trapped by seat belts.

If I'm in a car, I'm buckled up. Seems stupid to not use them.

I don't have to wear them in my farm trucks, which is all of my pickups--but I do without fail. I don't want to be seriously injured or die.

As for freedom, I agree and a matter of principle. However, I will support "no seatbelt" laws and "no helmet" laws only when we get rid of all welfare. If someone is ejected, for example, because they were not wearing their seatbelt, is brain damaged/otherwise seriously injured and lives: the taxpayers end up paying the bill for the rest of their lives.

No more Medicaid, no more Social Security Disability, etc. and then everyone can live free!

Wonder how much the politicians got paid for their vote when sold our freedom down the river?

If police did the latter, WI north woods would lose lots of money from the Illinois people not allowed to drive. LOL

Be sure you register as an organ donor, especially if you choose to not wear a seatbelt on the highway.

I don't always remember to wear a seat belt and when running traps I rarely wear one. But, I was in a head on collision bumper to bumper and was fortunate to have my belt on that day. As bad as I was banged up with the seat belt, I know I would have been seriously hurt or worse if I didn't have it on.

I also got to see J.C. Conner's truck that was hit head on, on the interstate coming back from Minktoberfest. The hit was an offset head on collision fortunately. (Drunk driver going the wrong way) I picked J.C. and Jim Cundiff up after the accident. Thankfully they had their seatbelts on and thankfully the median strip was extra wide where the accident happened.

Seatbelts save lives. Wear them or not, law or not. It's your choice.

I wear mine always. I was an EMT for 17 years. Newton’s First Law of Physics won’t be denied…..Objects in motion will stay in motion. Hit a guard rail or tree at 60 mph…..the car might stop, but you’re still traveling 60 mph. You bust both femurs under the steering wheel, crush your chest on the steering column , then you’ll learn how to fly….out the windshield.
