How about the available water? Cattle troths? Creek.
Someone out of California, that trapped AZ , told me cats dont need water.
That the cat can survive from moisture from eating .without water.

Dang, that was a good demo! For my poor trapping skills, I actually learned a good bit. Wolfie needs to stash that in archives. If I were a blind man, I would swear that accent was Yonkers, NY?

Great video! Twisting the trap into the bed to help it settle was helpful.
Do you ever get freezing conditions? Ive heard peat is hit or miss for that Rarely..20s at night once in a blue moon but a four coiled trap will come through the light crust

Free surface water is everywhere here; even in drought. In AZ, not so much the case dependent on the year and timing. I've watched cats drink free surface water, so I don't know if they need it for survival, but they dang sure utilize it. I would think that a nursing mother would most definitely need free surface water.

Usually snow in the north, canals everywhere.
