yes, many times. Years ago I even wrote a very sincere thank you note to Diane Feinstein. I just dug it up.
In this time of deep political division, I think it is important to be
thankful to those of differing political views whenever possible. So Ms
Feinstein, I would like to thank you.
A statement like that may surprise you, coming from a pro-2nd Amendment
Kansan, but let me explain.
When I'm looking for a hunting firearm, the specific nature of its
intended purpose dictates which models should be considered. The
details of the intended hunting situation can quickly narrow it down to
just a few choices.
But if I'm looking for a firearm for a more general purpose - like
something fun to take to the range - the choice can be very difficult.
Weeding through the thousands of nearly identical choices can make it
difficult to chose.
Then a few months ago when you revived your efforts to ban some guns I
heard about the list you had made. As I considered that, something
occurred to me. My AR is great for hunting and at the range, and of
course it made your top 100 list. So I wondered what else was on the
list. Fortunately you posted it on your website where I could easily
find it.
So I read through it, mostly for personal amusement. I noticed you
listed the Thompson ("tommy gun") models. I had heard of them before,
but after seeing it on your list I did some research. Thompson's are now
manufactured by Khar Arms to very high quality standards (the receiver
is milled from a solid block of steel). So I got one, and its great fun!
After a few months, I was thinking about what should be my next
purchase. Since your guidance had been so helpful, I reviewed your list
again. You seemed very impressed with "bullpup" rifles, so I did some
research. I found that just this year IWI started making and selling
their Tavor model in the US. I found some in depth reviews and
endorsements at thebangswitch.com, and was impressed. So when I got the
chance, I ordered one. Earlier this evening I picked it up at the ffl.
I must say, I'm impressed.
I'll need to wait a few months before looking at your list again (if I
looked too often my wife would get upset). But I'll be back, and your
list will be waiting for me.
I realize this may not be what you had in mind when you made the list.
But I must say: THANK YOU. You have superb taste.
If you get the chance, please also convey my thanks to pres. Obama. Many
politicians have claimed they will revitalize American manufacturing.
But together you and him have an entire sector of US manufacturing
working overtime to produce guns and ammo. Just think how bad our
economy would be if you guys hadn't helped out the gun makers!
