As having been a fabricator & welder I’ve always “tinkered” with traps mainly because of the seemingly inherently poor designing or poor manufacturing didn’t meet my expectations. My favorite project was building a couple dozen 110-size and a couple dozen 160-size RBGs! I used them for a number of years before selling them to trappers who wanted them more than I did!

Yeah. All gone. I’ll check again later. I’m sure I have a mess of cucumbers that have grown in my garden. They could always use one of them to… never mind…

I like to set and fire them all. Make sure dirt covering wont set them off. Check swivels. Check tags. Then boil in dye and then wax. My wax is black from traps. I leave the wax pot outside under an old pickup shell. Its open on both ends. Gets little leaves dust and rain it. I take the leaves out. I dont figure that will make it small bad. Always a little water in it after I pour it off. Makes it pop some while I wait for it to get hot.

Well, you are older than me. So, it’s only polite to call you sir.

Gotta get these ready before the end of October.

Probably won’t even set them. I’ve been leaning into cable really hard.

That’s my favorite tinkering maybe! Making cable restraints.

I like banking locations, scouting new country then trap it a couple years then cull any that are poor producers that I'm not driving buy. Backtracks have to be exceptional. I don't set alot of locations. Scouting is my favorite thing to do. When I say banking locations I mean. The more consistent producers you have in the bank, the more options you have. I love trapping. But I don't like to be in the green. So I guess efficiency on the trappline is my tinkering.

I love modifying traps and building out on the line equipment. Now only if work wasn’t so busy I’d be able to get back into it heavier haha but that’s ok I also love my job.
