Decided to beat the heat a bit last week and headed up towards Marcel, MN - much better weather than NE Indiana by golly.. Was 49 degrees Friday morning when we rolled thru the UP headed home. Boss was busy so I rounded up a couple neighbor boys and we went fishing.. Fishing was quite good and the scenery and time spent in the northwoods much better..Heading for Spencer tuesday and hoping we get some unseasonably cool weather out yonder as well!!

Looks like you did well. Lots of good eating there.

Wish I knew you were up North. About as nice country as you will find anywhere. I bet the neighbor boys had great big smiles.

thanks all, was a great week up north.. we fished 5 days pretty solid.. Cleaned our limits of bluegill, crappie, bass and northern to bring home and ate fish 4 out of the 5 days.. catch and release the last two days.. Caught an absolute bunch of bass both large and small mouth.

The older I get the more I like the midsummer to late summer fishing up yonder.. Weather is just a whole lot more stable and the fish more consistent.. They will be in 12-20 foot of water about guaranteed.. Find the weeds in that zone and most likely will find fish..

Good mess there

We just got back from Bayfield, WI. Went out on Superior one afternoon and we caught our limit of Lake Trout. Man the weather was absolutely beautiful up there. Low 70s for highs, no humidity by KS standards and got into the 50s at night. Came home to (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) on earth this week upper 90s and enough humidity to drown a fish on dry land.

Steven we didn’t pick any berries but saw a good quantity of raspberries ready and blue berries were on as well. We were trying to g to spot a bear on some of the clear cuts and bogs. No luck.

Bernie, the crappies came off Sand lake. No big top secret spot up yonder. Fishing pressure is fairly light up there and MN has done a good job with limits. I believe we are catching better blue gills and crappies off many of these lakes now than we were 20 years ago.

Sand can be tough due to water clarity. We fished late evening 20 foot of water and fish were suspended 8-12 feet consistently.

Thankfully one of the boys was a good fish cleaner so between the two of us it didn’t take too long. But I’m about done cleaning fish this year. Been very productive.
