I just saw this video on Facebook and found it on YouTube, so I could share it here.

It looks like Eugenio Monesma, the documentarian, has a large many more videos on traditional methods of hunting, trapping and other interesting things.

You can run English closed captions on the video.

The rabbit call the old man shows how to make, at a little after 8 minutes, makes my dogs come running.

Great videos Keith. I lived in Spain three as a kid, up until my sophomore year in HS. I saw the Spanish trap what we would have considered song birds both to eat and to sell to keep caged. They were using nets. I also saw them trapping wild coturnix quail with a mist net placed on top the standing grain. They would call the quail and then flush them when they were under the net. They would eat any bird no matter the size. I used to give them English sparrows I shot with my pellet rifle.

I had heard that mistletoe had been used to make a sticky substance in France and Ireland for larking. In Ireland and Britain, mistletoe is rare except in areas with lots of Celtic people. Spanish people are mostly Celts. The Celts in Ireland and Britain came originally from Spain..I suspect they brought mistletoe with them to produce the glue to catch birds to eat.
