That works.
I haven't ever flipped this boat over for the winter. If we get a lot of snow I just use the big Stihl leaf blower and blow it out. The motor and gear in the stern is covered by a tarp.
And then there's that heavy longtail to deal with off and on twice a year. Nope.
having moved one long tail I can understand that.
I have always stored smaller outboards in the basement under the stairs I think this new 20hp is 126 pounds so not too bad for my son and I to carry down.
this is my second season on this boat and first with this motor , I had a 15hp Johnson last year but upgraded.
I dug the boat out of the tall grass last year at a friends cabin where it had sat for almost 20 years , he had passed and I was helping his widow with the estate.
put a new transom in it in Aug of 24 then fished it the rest of last year and this so it is still a bit of a work in progress for exactly how I want it.
I also put my batteries in the basement on a board and charge them to start then again about February toss the charger on them again.
I use the leaf blower to blow all the cedar needles out of my boat that plug the drain hole all summer long.
trying to keep everything about this boat hose/blow it off and go. my rods and tackle backpack live in the back of my truck under the topper I have heavy rubber bungie cords across the topper mounts to lay my rods on with rod sleeves they keep tangle free and up so that nothing sets on them and keep the ice fishing sleds like drawers to keep tools in one and other stuff in the other , that way it is easy to pull them out if I need more bed space.
I have my old truck 98 chevy 1500 with an open 8 foot bed for hauling anything dirty or large have a tool box against the back of the cab for a little more dry storage just picked that tool box up a few weeks ago , my 2004 GM 1500 had a bed rat and topper so more storage than my new to me 2013 f150 that I bought from my dad when he got a new suv ,he bought the f150 new in 2014 to better pull his boat on lake Michigan but he only needs to trailer it 2-3 times a year so I will just go help him.
the back of the F150 is carpeted and more like the back of an SUV that is they way he liked it it has screens and windows that open I will probably toss a mattress in there and just camp in it and fish as it cools down a little , this 100% humidity and hanging out around 80 at night is not good sleeping under a topper weather.
