I have seen a lot of their kayak fishing stuff and john boat stuff online but hadn't ordered before.

put in my first order with them last night and just got the email that it should be here in the mail tomorrow.

they have a very adaptable trolling motor mount to put a bow mount on a johnboat and get it level and not eat your entire front deck

I was thinking it would be Monday at the earliest then the email came saying Saturday for the tracking.

I have to hang out at home all weekend any way cause I am on-call for work. now I am hoping I have the lawn finished and the trolling motor ready to rock by Monday.

maybe someone can help me with were I can find one of these
[Linked Image]

this is a screen shot of the Welbuilt ageless wandered , the 16 foot Jon-boat making the great loop right now , it allows him to toss anchor from the tiller then walk the anchor line up and slip it in the slot , keeping the boat perfect into the waves , wind or current on anchor.

I have found other anchor point hardware but not this one none of the others seem to have the slot I would like to put one of these on my 14 foot jon-boat would be nice for night anchor cat fishing on a channel.

Pete, maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to do here, but here's the set up on our 18' jon that allows the boat to stay (almost) perfect in current.

Crank in the back

Zigzag cleat. I use this most the time when changing spots and simply bring anchor in by hand or if in strong current use transom mounted trolling motor to push forward.

PVC pipe encloses wires.

Rings along side. Glued down carpeting is for the dogs.

[Linked Image]

Landscaping timber bolted to side of boat resting on deck. Wires run up for pop in bow light.

[Linked Image]

Anchormate bolted to 2x4 that is glued and screwed into top of timber.

I have thought about that , my front deck space is at a premium I want to be able to keep one side open so I can pull up to shore and walk right off the front.

I don't deploy anchor all the time on lakes or still water using the bow mount trolling motor

the port side of the deck is getting the bow mount trolling motor I had , my wife wouldn't run a foot control motor so I just used a stern and it was not that great but ok for a little positioning.
she also really liked that open front deck she would sit there often and it was her preferred way in and out of the boat.

so I am going for a compromise mount the Bow chuck right at the bow and be able to lay the anchor line into it to be strait in the current.
my cleats are at the back edge of the bow deck.

my bow light right in the middle

also to get a straighter pull with the line pulling it on the trailer

the bow mounted anchor and which would be handy some times and more in the way others.

so compromising on pulling the anchor up or deploying it while at the tiller then just dropping it in the bow chuck slot
if it is my son in the front then he can deploy and retrieve the anchor

the bow mount trolling motor bracket should be here today , it isn't secured down right now but that is about where it will be mounted

I am trying to keep everything on this boat so that the stuff can get fairly easily removed and the boat flipped over on the trailer for the winter

with everything off three people can easily flip it over for winter storage.

That works.

I haven't ever flipped this boat over for the winter. If we get a lot of snow I just use the big Stihl leaf blower and blow it out. The motor and gear in the stern is covered by a tarp.

And then there's that heavy longtail to deal with off and on twice a year. Nope.

GCP, all you need is the bow chock, as you can see there's 2 types, straight and offset, both do the same thing of holding your anchor line in position...if you let the anchor hang off the bow or a short bow sprit, you can pull and deploy the anchor from the rear of the boat, you can pull under power too, just need a rear cleat to fasten off and you coil the line at the back...

We used to have big old tonging deck boats and most of them were inboards with a tiller for the rudder. they were all set up the way I tried to explain, you set and pulled the anchor from the rear next to the tiller, a anchor cleat was installed on the rear cabin trunk, you never had to go to the bow or bend over to work the cleat, lol

having moved one long tail I can understand that.

I have always stored smaller outboards in the basement under the stairs I think this new 20hp is 126 pounds so not too bad for my son and I to carry down.
this is my second season on this boat and first with this motor , I had a 15hp Johnson last year but upgraded.

I dug the boat out of the tall grass last year at a friends cabin where it had sat for almost 20 years , he had passed and I was helping his widow with the estate.
put a new transom in it in Aug of 24 then fished it the rest of last year and this so it is still a bit of a work in progress for exactly how I want it.

I also put my batteries in the basement on a board and charge them to start then again about February toss the charger on them again.

I use the leaf blower to blow all the cedar needles out of my boat that plug the drain hole all summer long.

trying to keep everything about this boat hose/blow it off and go. my rods and tackle backpack live in the back of my truck under the topper I have heavy rubber bungie cords across the topper mounts to lay my rods on with rod sleeves they keep tangle free and up so that nothing sets on them and keep the ice fishing sleds like drawers to keep tools in one and other stuff in the other , that way it is easy to pull them out if I need more bed space.

I have my old truck 98 chevy 1500 with an open 8 foot bed for hauling anything dirty or large have a tool box against the back of the cab for a little more dry storage just picked that tool box up a few weeks ago , my 2004 GM 1500 had a bed rat and topper so more storage than my new to me 2013 f150 that I bought from my dad when he got a new suv ,he bought the f150 new in 2014 to better pull his boat on lake Michigan but he only needs to trailer it 2-3 times a year so I will just go help him.

the back of the F150 is carpeted and more like the back of an SUV that is they way he liked it it has screens and windows that open I will probably toss a mattress in there and just camp in it and fish as it cools down a little , this 100% humidity and hanging out around 80 at night is not good sleeping under a topper weather.

got the trolling motor all mounted and wired up
had to make a few aluminum shims , just playing with a lot of angles with where I wanted it.

got out fishing yesterday , works great really moves the boat around , used it fairly heavily for 3 hours , we caught a bunch of little bass Ilost count how many , it was fun but only maybe 5 even close to legal

water was really murky so switched to rattling rapalas about the time the sun was getting low , then it was just one little bass after the next. worked the shore line.
