Never done it... can it be done with regular punch or take it somewhere that knows what they're doing???

Just use a flat screwdriver. Place it parallel to the opening of the link, pretty level with the chain, and give it a push, or give the screwdriver a tap with a hammer. Watch for it to go flying, but usually just pops off.
To put it back on, just do the same, but after placing it back on the chain, it's pretty much reverse of how you got it off. Just be mindful not to bend it.

They make a punch and a metal block that fits various chain sizes. [Linked Image]
I’m sure price is more now this is an old madsons book.

It really is simple. Just make sure that when you re-install the chain, it's going the right direction. Look at the chain before removal and note which way the chisle teeth are pointing.
It is a very easy thing. You can do it.


Just doing what I want now.
