Does anybody use drags on their trap line?

Do you build them or do you enjoy welding?
I just made another one and set it out to test the design.

What do you mean by "to much risk" if you have a good drag?

I do use drags about 40% of the time for foxes.
The country around here is moderately scrubby so they only go about 100-200m.
I also have a scent hound so it pretty easy to find them.
I make all my own drags.
I have 2 designs that I use.
The first is just heavy wire in a lead filled pipe for weight.
It weighs about a kilogram.[Linked Image]

The other is light steel rod and almost solid steel pipe.
This one is a little heavier, about 2 kilos[Linked Image]

What kind of land do you have up there? And do you have places that it can hook? Down here we have a lot of brush so it could hook up pretty easily.

I don't use them because I've only trapped our 20 acres so I didn't want anything getting off our property. But I might start using them cuz I'm going to be trapping bigger properties this year

Cool, I trap all private because there's no public land in Texas. For me it's easy to get people to let me do stuff on their property.
