I wouldn't get all bent up about it, the way I look at it is that they're just trying to stay within scripture.. The easy solution is to get a full submersion baptism and join the church..

Babies can not profession faith

Sprinkling a baby is a pope thing

Christ gave us examples.

However believing is enough Christ forgave the murderer on the cross and said he'd be in paradise...the murderer died without being baptized

Anabaptism was a protestant movement centered upon adult baptism, anabaptism literally means re-baptism, seperation of church and state. It arose in central Europe, germant/czech/swiss, seperate from other movements such as Hus and later Luther. They are not directly related to the much later baptist movement which came out of the Anglican/Presbyterian/Reformed tradition as the Puritan and later Baptist movements.

Anabaptists would produce the Mennonite/Amish movements.

Menonite yes. The Amish believe in baptism 8 days after birth.
If memory serves. And yes, in the 1500s
It's a fascinating story

Baptize in original Greek is Baptizo meaning to make overwhelmed (that is) fully wet. Everyone in the book of Acts went down into the water. Also Romans 6:4-11 is a great scripture to really grasp the significance of submersion. I was sprinkled as a child and when I got born again, saved, or forgiven (however you like to say it) God impressed upon me to be baptized. Sprinkling with water is not in the Bible.

Forgiveness is just a prayer away.

Biblical baptism is an outward sign of an inward decision that makes you new again. Therefore it requires you to make a decision. Infants can't make a decision and therefore infant baptism isn't biblical baptism.

Is baptism required for salvation? No. Are Christians commanded to be baptised? Yes.

My church also requires baptism to become a member. All are welcome here...really! But you can't become a voting member unless you are baptised. I have mxed feelings about that. The early church didn't have voting members, no creed to agree to, elders ran things not voting members. But no church is perfect. Strive for perfection but choose a church that is striving to follow the teachings of the Bible and realize that we live in a flawed world where there can be no "perfect"...yet.

I’ve been baptized several times. First time was with holy water in the church as a baby. Since then, I’ve been baptized more times than I care to admit by full submersion at the house of the beaver. Usually near the feed pile on the coldest day of the year.

A baptism should not have rules attached, the guy who is sprinkled in the name of the trinity believes just as much as the guy who is dunked.

Heard a funny story regarding this. Some farm kids decided to save all the farm animals and were busy baptizing them in a farm pond. They just couldn't quite get the goat submerged and so the older kid finally decided the goat would just be sprinkled and it could go to (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)!

I attend a rather conservative, orthodox, baptist church. We recently sprinkled a guy, first time in the churches history. The 18 year old guy is severly disable and is permanently attached to a wheel chair/rolling bed device.
Do I think that qualifies as a baptism? Of course.

As I recall there were instructions in the Lutheran Hymnal I had in Grade school. Ca 1965 or so.

Did your church not have newmbers classes that go through what makes a Baptist a Baptist? Mine did.
Told how the Baptist came about and the core beliefs & scripture that backed it up.

to be honest before that I didn't have a clue about the doctrine diffrence between different flavors beyond the name on the building. All I knew was I liked what I found out later was expository preaching. At that southern Baptist church. Got more out of the book learned I could spend an evening in small group breaking down just a few sentences and still run out of time.
