Some young of the year getting weaned. This old gal has had triplets for several years in a row. She is starting her own little herd it seems. The triples attempted to nurse a few times but the old doe wouldn't have it. She kept moving away from them.

After a busy morning of grazing they like to take it easy bedded in the shade of a big old Cherry tree near the cabin.

There is a wet spring under that bedding area and the ground stays very cool. The grass is always greener and more dense due to the higher moisture content there. They just graze around their bedding area without moving.

They just reach around with their long necks and chew their cud for many hours of the day.. Very good shade there. As the sun moves and the shade canopy moves, they get up and move to the more shaded area and bed down once again. Their ears and tail are batting the flies away the whole time.

A nice buck in velvet strolled past me while sitting on the back deck. They are starting to move a bit more now. The photo is a bit blurry as he was on the move as I hurried to get a photo before it was out of good photo range.

A very cool morning today. 49 degrees. A pleasant relief from the recent heat wave.

Always nice to see wildlife. I like having them around more then hunting them anymore.
