We have a group chat titled "Books Read Thread." My wife, three daughters, mom and granddaughter are members. It's a friendly competition where we set a goal of how many books we would like to read each year on January 1st and see if we can achieve it by year's end. We also tally total pages each member reads.
My goal is usually 15 books per year and I usually achieve that or come close. I'm currently on my 11th book for the year and had read 3,212 pages when I finished book ten.
My 91-year-old mother reads the most, she has the time to.
A couple of months ago I discovered three books by Douglas Adams that I hadn't known about. He's one of my favorite authors for the Hitchhiker series. I read those and then started on some that were bought for me for by family.
When I catch up on those I'll start Ivan Doig's Montana trilogy recommended by our own White 17.
Eh...wot?

I'm on a Peter Hathaway Capstick kick. I've read all his "Death in..." series and he definitely takes some literary license in those. But " Warrior" and "The Last Ivory Hunter" are exceptional accounts about exceptional men.

I finished Wilderness a week ago. Now, I just started “Wolfer: A Memoir” by Carter Niemeyer. Here’s his bio…. “ Carter Niemeyer retired in 2006 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service where he was the wolf recovery coordinator for Idaho. As an expert government trapper, he was a key member of the federal wolf reintroduction team in Canada in the mid-1990s. Carter is an Iowa native, but adopted the West as his home in the early 1970s. He has two degrees from Iowa State University and is a Wildlife Society certified biologist. In 2010 he wrote his first memoir, Wolfer. He published his second collection of stories, Wolf Land, in March 2016. Niemeyer has been a trapper, hunter, and wildlife proponent his entire life. Wolves, he believes, add to the outdoor experience, and people who see or hear them should consider the experience thrilling. Wolves do not, as many believe, kill everything in sight, destroy their own food supply, or lick their chops at kids waiting at bus stops. They are simply predators like lions and bears, and anyone who believes otherwise is, well, wrong.”
I like to read every perspective I can on these animals. As long as the book is written in the writers honest belief and not full of garbage bias stuff. Jack, you probably know this fella?

I've been trying to work on reading The Bible more. I seem to put it down for a stretch and when pick it back up and start reading again I seem to be a happier person. Was reading quite a bit of Elmer Keith's literature up until fairly recently, his auto biography is a good read for sure. Sam , if you really want to go down a rabbit hole ; download "The Complete Works of the Church Fathers" . I downloaded it to my Kindle which took a couple hours for the some 50,000 pages. Then as you read, cross reference with that. Doesn't matter if you're Orthodox, Catholic, or evangelical protestant we all began at the same place. And just about all of them ended up with their necks on the block to bring us the Good News.

I like the stories written by CJ Box. I bit the bullet and purchased all 25 or 26 books in the series. Reading one/week.
