The hat is 100% Colombian. There are likely 100's of makers. It is made from palm thatch and is double sewed so you can fold it up and stick in in you back pocket and it pops back out. If you ever watch an international soccer match (with Colombia in the mix) almost 100% of the Colombians will be wearing that hat as it identifies them as Colombian. I wear the hat at our farmers market when I sell Fanny's fruticicles and at least once or twice a year a Colombian will come along and ask about the hat and where I got it. They don't seem to think I'm Colombian.

I always tell them that I shop for my hats and women in the same place.

That's cool Carl. One of my best friends, who is also my partner in the new nursery business, is in Peru, right next to Colombia, right now. Peru looks beautiful in the pictures she has posted. I imagine Colombia is similar. Are Colombians of Mayan descent too?

No, the Mayans were in Mexico and Central America. Their empire petered out before it hit South America. The Incan empire (which only lasted about 90 years) had just made it into Colombia when the conquistadores joined the party. Most ethnic Colombians are a mix of local indian tribes, Europeans, and Africans. My wife's mix is about 25% Indian, 20% black and 55% European according to 23 and Me.

The Indian part is fairly well expressed with her as she doesn't grow any hair on her legs or armpits.

You're right. I forgot about the Incans and could only remember the Aztecs and Mayans. I don't think even a single class I had in school covered Central and South America.

True.... fortunately however most of my friends are frequent fliers.... and have a high enough post count to show up in the first 2 pages....so I can just scroll those pages to see who's banned. But.... you can also search for a person to see if they are banned. For example.... Chancey and Vinke were recently banned.... search their names and they won't show up.
