So, I went to a bear hunting clinic and ended up with 5 gallons of pure vanilla extract.

I am using a guide for my bear hunt, so won't be using it for bear bait.

Thinking somehow it could be used for raccoon with my dog proofs? Make a bait with it? Soak marshmallows in it and dry them?

It has a really strong sweet smell. Any ideas on what I can with it?

I use vanilla extract (the fake stuff) added to dry dog and/or cat food as DP bait.

You could just put it in a squirt bottle and hit the marshmallows with it when making the set.

I use it as a call lure at skunk boxes and DPs. Just a squirt on the ground or some nearby brush. I would think it would work very well as k snow uses it. Coons were always into it when I used it bear baiting.

Good Vanilla Extract makes a fine ingredient and fixative. It is best used in materials that will hold its fragrance or it will dissipate quickly due to the alcohol content.

5 gal of real vanilla extract is pricey! Nice score.

FYI - Deer like vanilla too!

I mix 50-50 imitation vanilla and honey and use a flip top squirt bottle around the trap site for an extra attractant to bring the coons from further away.
It is odd how the imitation vanilla really thins out the honey. Its comes out like water.
I once spilled about a pint of honey on the kitchen floor which I had just pulled out of a boiling pot of water to decrystallize it.
You know how hard it is to mop up honey?
All I had to do was spill a pint of Imitation honey on floor and it cleaned right up well before the warden got home from work. I didn't even tell her what happened.

I would mix it with some other ingredients as by law pure vanilla extract has to be 35% alcohol by volume so alone in the air a lot will evaporate quite quickly. Five gallons should last a long time.

My wife has made several batches from vanilla beans and it is very strong, I borrowed some and added about a third glycerine and that works well. Ad 3 or 4 ounces of this mixture to a pint of molasses and the odor lasts a long time. Deer and coon like it.
