cutting carbs alone made my pants to large . Not sure how much I lost didn't check my weight to start with since I was not trying to loose weight just trying to support my wife the Dr told to cut carbs or take meds before she became a diabetic. Not Sure but I think wife is down at least 40 lbs blood work showing everything back in good range and she has been slowly reducing her few meds. Have not heard her complain about her knee or back lately either. She got mor active being easer to do so as the weight came off and she felt better.

Edit. guessing where I started at I think I'm down 15 to 20 lbs. didn't think I needed to loose any but now i could still get rid of a pinch or two so must have been fatter than I thought to start.

You can workout as hard and long as you want but I don't know anyone "who can out run their fork"! Wow those young people must be eating a lot of calories to gain a lot of body fat at that age. I am 77 and I do activity to maintain some muscle, keep my muscles and body stretched, but mostly to keep my bone density up. Lot of things on ones' body really slow down as we age but the desire and ability to turn excess calories into body fat doesn't.

No need to bother comparing women or men. All it takes is a walk anywhere to see Americand are generally unhealthy and over weight. it was bad when it was just some adults. Today just random guessing I suspect 70% of adults are over weight but it's the kids that really get me and the reason I made this thread. Over weight kids set uo a lifetime of problems and patterns that are mostly avoidable. Parents afew failing their children and honestly I see it as a form of abuse.

Had a sharky conversation with my mom this morning concerning my over weight sister having trouble recovering after having surgery to remove cancer that Segway into my other sisters now huge daughter with multiple chins and how had I said something to my sister about her kid working out when the kid was 7 instead of working about hurting my sisters feelings and emotional state like my mom was worried about the kid may not be ste up for a poor quality limited life with a lot of health problems.

Packing up equipment last week from a job and 3 kids passed me on the sidewalk. First on e-bike way overweight, second, on power scooter overweight and third kid peddling a bike was slim and trim. Made me chuckle. grin

If Ozempic could be affordable to all fat people it would be a Godsend. Kids are the ones that need to get on the right track as far as fatness goes.

Carbs, processed foods, preservatives, and fake food are the culprit.

And lack of activity. Put it all together for a winning healthy hand.

PF, you can lose weight without exercise. Not saying a person shouldn't exercise. Just saying you don't need it to lose weight

I was trying to compare apples to apples; Russian and Ukrainian women, they are of similar height to Americans.
BTW, remember the song "Back in the USSR"? Whole lot of truth there.

it's a combination of everything mentioned but from what I see the fat kids eat so much nutrition-less 'food' that they're never satiated and just eat ridiculous amounts of the stuff . . I eat 3 eggs, a small steak and some yogurt almost everyday for breakfast around 730am and don't even think about food again until close to 1pm because I'm full/satiated . . with all this processed and nutrition-less food you never get full, your body never signals that it's satiated and thus you just keep eating . . chips, cookies, cheese puffs that stuffs not food but makes up a large portion of most kids diets . . sugary drinks as well

parents think kids need that stuff and are deprived if they dont get it but I'd argue that growing kids need more real food and nutrition than anybody and because of that the nonsense processed stuff does more damage to kids long-term than adults

As a kid, we had cured pork, air-dried link sausage, a flour barrel, and several lard stands in our pantry. Mom used those staples every day. We enjoyed hot bread with most meals. Mom nearly always had a homemade cake or pie. She also taught school. We canned and froze much of what we ate during the year. We plowed our garden with a mule.
