John Prine passed almost 51/2 years ago. Here's a great memorial and song that was written by Joe Stamm for John.
--------------

For me, John Prine’s death on April 7th was kind of that “hit home” moment…like, “This thing is really gonna change our lives.”
We had already been sheltered in place for 3 weeks by then, but it was almost a novelty at first – some much needed time off…some time to catch up on projects and rest and Netflix. Then John passed away. And the days drug on. And it’s Spring. And it’s raining a lot. And it’s windy. I needed to write.
And “Goodbye, John” just kinda poured out.
This moment in history has been difficult…difficult for so many of us. It’s a moment that we’ll read about in history books as an absolute disaster.
But while not taking anything away from the tragedies that are resulting, like John Prine’s passing, for example, I hope you’re discovering some things about yourself. I hope you’re finding beauty within the ugliness. I hope while you’re stuck at home, among family, and perhaps a few close friends, you’re finding your own little corner of Paradise. And I hope this song might help you look around and see that Paradise just a little more clearly.
I’ve found much of that beauty in you – my fans, friends and supporters. Which is why I wanted to surprise you with this song release. Thanks for being in my corner. When you’re here, it is my own little corner of Paradise.
Stay safe. Your friend, Joe

Was like losing a good friend when John passed. Fortunately his music will live on forever.

Big John Prine fan here. Saw him in concert about 10 - 15 years ago. Unfortunately, his health was failing in his later years.

He survived cancer and then covid got him, the cancer did alter his voice though but not his mind or talent as a song writer. Always love "In Spite of ourselfs" wish I knew how to post it. Wife and I would always laugh when we heard it and say John wrote that song about us.

My uncle Steve passed away a few months ago.. he was a HUGE John prine fan.
I tried to think of a fitting song to play for him..
I thought “ paradise “ was the best choice .
There, at his grave as I played.. I got really choked up when I got to the lines” I’ll be halfway to heaven with paradise waiting, 5 miles away from wherever I am “.

He did a really good duo with Sturgill Simpson.

John did an excellent version of Clay Pigeons but Blaze Foley wrote it. Great choice Foxkid. Very fitting sendoff for a Prine fan. There is a great rendition of this floating around that he and his guitarist played by his childhood home.
