I've sold over 100 bushel.of peaches this season. I've called Pa,wv, TN, nc, Georgia and SC about buying peaches.
60 is actually a good price this year.
The places I called were between 28 and 35 a half bushel.

I got them cheaper than that because I bought in volume and got the wholesale price.

I make peach jelly and a glazing sauce with the skins "

There's a difference between number #2s and seconds.

#2s are slightly smaller than #1s and have no bruising.

Seconds are a lesser quality but can be number #1s or #2s..

This is exactly why I do not support farmers market. The sellers are ripping people off. They sell to buyers with EBT who could care less as it is a government charity. I worked for everything I have and never took a hand out. I don't grow all my own produce but I can buy it a lot cheaper from our farmers directly for the extra I need. I purchased #1 peaches from $1 to $2 lb this season.

You ever try to grow peaches?

Spent my time with a basket strapped to me picking peaches during my high school years.. Can't eat them to this Day, lol.

worse than picking them was thinning them as the summer went along so they didn't break the branches.
We were given a stick with some heater hose stripped over the end and we whacked peaches off until the limb stood back up some. Talk about a sticky job!

Y'all can have tham!

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I can see bruised ones in the #2s where I go, not many though

Out west the size is by count. IE: 24 count 36 count, etc.

#2 peaches have slight blemishes or bruises. Then there are windfall peaches that were picked up off the ground.

My two trees are hanging full of peaches. Had to cut props for limbs.

Wright, I got up to 70 peaches off of some of my two year old trees this season. If they're happy they are very precocious.

What size and age were they when you planted them? I've had peaches and sour cherries bear fruit three years after coming up from seed.

3/4" caliper grafted trees planted in November of 2023. Fall planting makes a huge difference. I had some more trees I planted spring of 2024 and they have almost nothing on them.

Hopefully they taste as good as what I grow. Doubt it!

Work with a menanite who gets us 1/2 bushels #1 for $18. I think they are out of South Carolina.
