Where is a good place to buy some starts and when is a good time to plant?

Thanks!

I had to replace last year’s plants. Got them the week before Mother’s Day. Any of the big box stores with a garden center should have them then.

Never too old to learn

Best time to plant strawberries weather everbearing or June bearing, is in the fall.
Gives them time to root and have a better chance of a good harvest.

Depends on how many starts you are planting. Nourse Berry farm is tough to beat for larger orders.

Get the lime, compost, and the tilling going now.
Weeds, rodents, and slugs are the enemy.
Oats and wheat straw are your friends.

Theres a guy on here,,,,,,
How big of a patch?

You use artificial sweetener?
Shocked to see that.
I don't use anything that a chemist thought up.
Example is Marjorine, never liked it as a kid, mom had to get me real butter.
Or we made our own from the cows milk.
Me personally would use cane or beet sugar if honey wasn't available.
To each their own.
We all go the same way in time.

My patch will be 30' x not sure yet. I was thinking fall was best but wasn't sure, that's why I asked now in case that was correct.

I'll start looking the net and there's A Lowes that has a large outdoor area I'll check oit.

Thanks again.

Strawberry crowns build up in the fall for a good spring-summer crop. I just planted 1000 Shuksan june-bearing strawberries two weeks ago. I only lost 3-4 plants out of a thousand. You really have to baby them though in the hot dry temps this time of year.

On our farm we typically planted in the spring as early as the ground could be worked up. Bare root plants that are available now would have been dug late last fall and frozen at 28F and held until now.

I recommend Scenic Hill Nursery in Albany, Oregon as one good place to acquire plants.

Stevia isn't an artificial sweetener, it's natural sweetener that comes from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It's 50-300 times sweeter than sugar.

All About Stevia

Eh...wot?
