Love it all but I can’t beat the feeling of beaver trapping in lots of snow as far from town as I can get. Takes me back in time for sure.

Otters because it a waiting game. And coyotes in water sets. They always look terrible when there wet but it’s fun to see coyotes swimming when you come up to a set

I agree with everything you say, Wag, but my absolute favorite, and what I miss the most about trapping in Alaska, was chasing, and catching, wolverine. I simply haven't found anything that comes close, for me.

Just doing what I want now.

Catching one 3 days in a row, in the same set, is awesome.

I would like to trap something different. I've only trapped the furbearers that are readily available in Ohio, except I've never caught an otter or weasel.

I've only tried to trap otter once, when a buddy was drawn for access for it. We set heavily, but never even saw any sign of otters. I don't think any were there to catch.

When I first started trapping a lot, I tried to trap weasels, near Piqua, Ohio. I didn't know about pan tension yet. Even though I had tracks over my sets almost daily, I never had one spring a trap. There were 2 rock piles on the property I trapped, that were loaded with weasel tracks, whenever it snowed. The weasels were probably least weasels. They were around 6" to 7" long. I'd see them fairly frequently.

Always been a land trapper ... Coon, fox coyote, skunk, o'possum and the occasional wolf. Hate catching them wolves cause you got to release 'em. I may have to try my hand at water trapping while I still can.

Nothing tops dryland coon for me. Give me a coon trail leading to a cornfield and I am in my glory. Just wish the prices would come up enough so that I could afford to devote more time to it.

Hard to pick a favorite. Coyotes or mink probably.

I like trapping everything, but my favorite is RED fox, so many great memories with Pop, Dad and Arnold, wish I had them here in Iowa, second would be muskrats, followed close by dry-land coons, coyotes and beaver then mink.

Surprised nobody mentioned nutria. Back in my college days I borrowed a bunch of two-door Tomahawk cage traps from the Forestry Dept and set farms that didn't allow lethal trapping. Used to have to pull them out by the tail for dispatch. Quite a thrill pulling out a 15-18 lb piece of gnashing fur and teeth.

Back in the days one nutria pelt would fill my gas tank and buy a hamburger.
