If memory serves, "communal communities" have been tried many times in US and as far as I know, none have ever survived.

Not sure what prompted OP's original question, but if it has anything to do with what future mayor of NYC has promised, the solutions he offers have nothing to do with problems that exist now. Example......he proposes city owned, city run grocery stores to replace greedy corporate stores, which run on profit margin so thin as to be nearly invisible. The reason they fail is financial losses due to theft. He will either have to offer a free food distribution network paid for by taxpayers, or crack down on the crime.

His will not be controlled, locked down society. The businesses he proposes to gig to pay for all his fantasies can up and move.......leaving him a city full of promises and no way to pay for it all. It will implode in short order...........then the true commie will come out. To stay in power, he will have to get rough.

Have heard George Will say he hopes he does get elected. All the youngsters and people dumb enough to vote for such a scam need to live it to see why it's bad. Maybe then they will understand.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

OP never had any particular reason for the subject, its just that I hear communism and socialism a lot and some of the reasoning doesn't make sense. Just wondered what everyone idea was so I can keep up in the conversations, lol.

I guess people can watch and see if the four legs is good and two legs is bad saying transforms into little fibs make big lies. Four legs is good and two legs is better after transformation of the little fib.

Maybe if he is successful he could satellite some branch groceries to Detroit ! Somehow I wouldn't be too optimistic as it seems there is not even as much respect for gov property as there is for private. Public housing for one.

Communism tries to erase individualism. It never really works, because it's human nature to want to achieve more. Even in this country, some people are essentially living under the same system, because they are forced to either do what the government mandated or lose income. We saw this under the covid rules, which were an obvious experiment to see how many would cooperate.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Guy posted this on another website......

Capitalism is like a vending machine........full of choices and they cost what they cost. Socialism is the same vending machine with same choices which are now all free............except machine is empty.
