absoulutly i have used them my entire life and succesfuly you can use the secretions to rub up on a licking branch that should be hanging above the scrape from the orbital and pre orbital glands but using the circular tuft of hair which is the tarsal gland that can be very pungent smelling located up on the inside of the rear legs can be deadly
taken from a mature doe carefully pinch the center of the tarsal pulling it away from the leg and cut the entire tuft out of the leg then make a slit in the gland and run a zip strip thru to make a circle the two glands from each animal should be placed in a freezer bag and covered with clean doe urine then hung above the mock scrape be sure to rip the ground up at the scrape to release the smell of fresh earth with urine also between the hooves there is a cheesy smelling gland called the interdigital if you take the time to collect it and add to the scrape turns it very deadly i use an aged version of the interdigital gland in my canine baits

I know I posted this years ago already. I made fake scrapes using the stinky horse hoof goo. I never hunted over them but know they were visited. Decided to try it after seeing deer tracks scraping at coyote set with goo on them. I did give some to a guy I worked with. He shot at least 1 deer over fake scrape.

I think mock scrapes work best to stop deer along a travel path already being used in order to create a better shooting opportunity. Pulling deer off those paths using a mock scrape is much less likely to be effective.
