We had plenty of birds this year for the season opener.

We had 8 shooters, killed 113 doves.

My lab got plenty of exercise and made several impressive retrieves.

Heck yeah. Good eats this evening !

No birds to the west of you.
Been outside all morning getting a loafing shed ready for new skin.
Haven't seen a bird or heard any shots so far.

Not even at the neighbors sunflower patch !

My post is in the fescue field leading up to the sunflowers. The birds roost in the timber and fly up the draws to the sunflowers. Shots rend to be long and can be few and far between but I find it works perfect for my dog.

There were several that I knocked feathers out of that flew over on the next hillside and went down. Bear saw them go down and made the retrieve. Two of them were 200 yards or more. I was able to recover all of mine and another half dozen “lost” birds in the thick grass and even one water retrieve that landed in the pond.

Ran into a group of guys at a breakfast buffet today it sounded like the shooters got their limits, them doves can humble a guy if he’s out of practice. LOL

Nice job!

Heard lots of shooting around me, but never saw one while I was out doing chores. Was out from before sunrise to a couple hours after. Was surprised I heard so much shooting. Good to see some are gettin’ it done!
