What are countries like that have no vaccination standards?
We seriously need to change some of ours, but not make all of them optional. Does anyone seriously think that would make America a better country?
RFK is trying to fix it. Not burn it down. He is wanting all of us to have all information possible to make a decision on each and every vaccine. He is not anti vaccine.
I regret some of the vaccines my children received but not all of them. I understand why some of them are mandatory and don't mind those.
Don't forget where we live and why it is one of the safest countries, disease wise, in the world. I personally want to change some of it, but I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water and neither does RFK.

The reason we have such a strong vaccine hesitancy lies squarely at the feet of Fauxi. He fooled both presidents he served under and lied blatantly under oath. There was some vaccine hesitancy before, but now it is off the chart.
I kind of see this as a good and bad thing. He brought more awareness to the issue but he created massive distrust in the idea of vaccinations. To the point some people don't want any vaccinations due to their misunderstanding and distrust of vaccines and the medical community.

People aren't forced to take vaccines While that's true, there have been and are some pretty strict consequences of choosing not to... i.e. not being able to enroll kids in school, getting fired from jobs, not being able to fly, etc. That's the lie pushed you have to have shots to go to school like its a fact. Religious exemption shoot that lie down at least in Indiana.

Religious exemption is a good option for some vaccines. Covid, flu, hepatitis, etc. I do it for seasonal flu vaccine and covid jabs.
I do consider it a world wide success on how polio has basically been eradicated by vaccinations. And many other diseases were almost completely eliminated and are now controlled due to vaccinations.
If all vaccinations are made optional, it will not end well at all. Vaccination schedules need to be revisited and revised but not eliminated. I hear the freedom thing but there is a give and take to be able to maintain the level of safety we enjoy everyday in America.
I don't think anyone should be strapped down or incarcerated for not getting certain vaccines, but if they claim religious exemptions then they need to be going to a religious school or home schooled.
We are gearing up for a measles issue in Guilford county where I work due to unvaccinated illegals. Now think about that. We are having to deal with a possible measles outbreak amongst unvaccinated individuals. Think about the drain on any municipalities resources with unvaccinated people having to get "free" treatment due to not getting a simple vaccination. That unvaccinated person is costing me money due to them not being vaccinated. Think about the mothers that could be carrying any disease and passing it onto their newborn. Or miscarrying due to carrying the disease but being immune.
Were we tyrannical when we quarantined immigrants at Ellis Island when the country was first being populated? Or were we being careful to not have the same disease issues in this country that we were running from the country we left.
If all vaccinations are optional, we will have more serious disease outbreaks in this country. That is a fact and one I will be embarrassed about as an American. Talk tyranny all you want, but if some mandatory vaccinations keep us from having third world disease outbreaks in America, I have zero problems with it.

bowhunter27295 by all means get every vaccine you want. Just leave your neighbors alone. If they swell up and die you will be protected. The disease I worry about is TB.

If you can be honest with yourself swap topic and use the same argument to support it and see how it sounds. I suspect you will realize how much it sounds like some of the worst thing to have happened in the world. The good of the many is more important than liberty of the few right. Pay into their hand give up and support loosing more freedom. Why because the same people pushing mandatory tax are the same that paid for and sent all the 3rd world all around the country to spread the very thing causing the issue. Along with cultural issues/clashes and the rest of the havoc that goes alond with it. I mean beter ban x type of gun its for the greater good. If it just saves one life.

So let's let polio, small pox and TB vaccinations be optional. The freedom that will give will be just peachy. Everyone will benefit from it. I mean it's stupid to want to prevent a disease in your population than it is to let it run its course. There is no logical comparison of guns to diseases. A very weak argument. Bullet holes are not contagious and able to jump countries on a plane or crossing a border. I personally like walking around in a country without fear of the general population having a third world disease. Guess I am silly considering how wonderful it is to be American. There are vaccinations that are useless in my opinion. But there are some that would be honestly embarrassing to me as an American to think they would become a problem again. But let's stop what works and hope for the best or just watch as people get infected with very preventable diseases that we will have to treat with tax money and resources that could have been prevented with one shot. Makes all the sense in the world. We can adjust without wasting more tax dollars. I wonder if I will hear from the tax hawks about useless money being wasted on illegal immigrants due to preventable diseases? They will be treated by our medical system at mine and your cost if you are a tax payer. They will not be left in the streets to die and bloat. It will cost a lot more money that we don't have to treat rather than prevent. But hey, it's all in the name of freedom, right? After all, freedom does have a cost. Even if it is your tax money going to treat some DA who wanted to be free and not get a TB vaccination. And I know from work how much man power is required to treat someone with TB. It is immense and very resource consuming. FREEDIOM!!!!!

Here is the length of time a health care professional will have to be physically involved in monitoring a person diagnosed with TB. Now multiply this out into an outbreak and consider TB is very contagious.
I better not hear anything out of you pf about wasted tax money. Apparently there is no correlation between wasted tax money and certain freedoms.
But like I said, freedom has a cost, right?
FREEDOM!!!
Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for tuberculosis (TB) is crucial for preventing the disease after potential exposure. PEP is recommended for individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with active TB, especially if they are at higher risk for developing the disease.
Key Components of TB PEP Assessment: Individuals exposed to TB should be evaluated for risk factors, including immunocompromised status or previous TB infection. Testing: A tuberculin skin test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) is performed to determine if the individual has been infected. Treatment: If the test is positive and the individual is at risk, a course of isoniazid (INH) for 6 to 9 months is typically recommended to prevent the development of active TB. Monitoring: Regular follow-ups are necessary to monitor for side effects and ensure adherence to the treatment regimen.
