I bought some used traps this weekend, 12 330 size
and the dog has MTI stamped into it.
Does anyone know of such?
Montgomery Trap Inc. Maybe

To me they resemble Victor trap coni-bears.

Thank's Chad,

I inherited some 280s that have the bend like the modern Belisle's do so that they close fully. I was told at the time that they were the first beaver conis? I do not know that as a fact but the are good and strong and take beaver in tight spots. Good traps......jk

MTI 600 was their otter/beaver trap if I have that right I thought it was a 280 size coni.

Major lack of info on the web about the MTI conis can’t find anything on a iPad search not a thing like it’s been scrubbed. iPad showed nothing using the PC resulted in more results mostly about the 330s I'm surprised the 600s did not come up they really pushed them back then.

Jerry-think you are right on about the MTI 600-it was an 8x8 . I think it was the first 280

Yep. They were actually a pretty good Otter trap. Problem was that when the jaws came together and the springs folded in, without anything in them, the spring eyes went up around onto the jaws, which was a pain to get them correct again. Not bad when you learn how to get the spring back on the side. There were quite a few sold, guessing from the number in tailgate areas for a couple years.

I knew a guy in Wyoming that figured out how to use them as a beaver leg hold trap and was very successful with them.
