Not saying HobbieTrapper doesn't know that there is blood under velvet, but a lot of people don't know that. Alot of people don't have any idea how antlers are formed. The shedding of velvet is pretty cool. I know folks who have pen raised deer and they say once the velvet starts to shed on a bucks antlers they will keep after until it is all gone, rarely does a buck have velvet remaining after 24 hours often way less. They also eat the velvet as it comes off, probably a hardwired anti predator mechanism. The blood would obviously attract predators.

Oh no, not mine. Just saw it as a close up reference to what it looks like when they freshly shed.

I’ve only been out once so far since the regular season started.
