Not sure now is the time to be buying silver. I’m thinking some folks will be thinking about selling.

Randy - how high do you think it will go? Will it stay there or go back down? Dust off your crystal ball and let us know what you think.

I paid $40.20 (with shipping) for a couple commemorative Trump silver rounds July of last year. I'm finally ahead on my investment!

I bought two 100-oz silver bars in the late 80's for $4/ounce. A jeweler client of mine got them for me at his cost. Last Christmas, I gave a bar to each of my two adult children. Told them never to sell - but we will see. If either sells their bar, I doubt they will tell me.

Been putting silver Morgan's in grandkid stockings since they we very young. I just enjoy it. Someday maybe they will do the same.

You’re not ahead or behind until you actually sell. My experience with precious metals is that it is very slow compared to the return on the regular market.

This is a great investment example.

Turned $100 into $408.40 today.

Same investment in S&P 500: $5,115.26 today. Precious metals are not an investment.

IMHO. now is not a good time for the uninitiated to buy silver. I'm sitting it out for now.

More like turned $400 (x2 bars) into $4,326 (x2 bars) today. He didn't say it was better than investing in the stock market, but its much more tangible for the kids and grandkids to hold some silver than a stock portfolio.

My goal in silver is to make 20% TWICE A YEAR. Doesn't always happen, and some years I do better. I personally will not buy now - I sold. I follow daily trends and historical data. Generally I see it spike and dive twice a year. Elections and other world events have a impact, but not as dramatic as other metals. I buy from a shop thats a couple hours away. We deal straight up on spot price for 10oz and 100 oz bars. Local shops near me try to put commissions and other BS fees on it. Crazy that it goes up 25% and they try to take 17-18% - I just walk away and do business elsewhere.

So riddle me this on silver. One of the largest US based solar panel companies is stock piling solar panels at a insane rate. They are leasing 100's of thousands of sqft of warehouse space. WHY??? So from an industrial perspective, I understand the demand. But I see they are driving up their own cost - Silver is the primary metal in solar panels. Wierd.

Anyways, so far 2025 has bee a bit different. Started out like a normal year with a dip in price around new years and a dip in spring. But its been on a pretty steady climb all summer. Gut tells me it will go up a little more, but I don't play on gut feelings, I follow statistics.

Silver spot price is currently $43.04. What would be a good price per dollar face to sell a few hundred dollars of American silver coins?

Where's the best place to sell it for the seller?

Here the coin store charges a $1.50 fee per ounce to purchase your silver so figure that into the mix.

I don't do coins. Too complicated for my turn and burn attitude. I called Buckeye Gold in Dublin, OH and they only pay 90% of spot. I would call around and compare what they pay, any commissions, and how they handle coins. Most of the time, coins need to be individually inspected if they have collector value

I always wondered how risky it was for a dealer to buy and sell silver but if they get paid $2 to sell it and $1.50 to purchase it that’s not a bad cushion then.
