Well water around me is hard, unless artificially softened. I stopped using our water softener because I didn't like the feel or taste of the water. We just live with all our clothes slowly turning orange.

If you have a water softener, I recommend just disconnecting it.

Had that with the old softener. I liked it. Since replacing the unit, I don't have that feeling anymore.

Here with our hard water wells the slim can be a bacteria, I’d recommend to have it tested to see if something is in it also to see how soft and what other minerals are in it.

Yes
Yes, it is normal for softened water to feel slimy. This sensation is a result of the ions in salt-based water softeners enhancing the bond between soap and skin, making it more difficult to rinse off soap. To reduce the slimy feel, you can use less soap, switch to synthetic body wash, or consider an alternative to salt-based softeners like Cascadian Water's PolyHalt® ICS Systems. These options not only provide a natural-feeling water but also offer cost savings and environmental benefits.

I don't use my softener anymore since we get water from a treatment plant. I did use and if I had iron rich water I would still be using a softener.

I have a shallow well, the water used to be heavy in Iron, that seems to have changed, can use bleach now and not have the water turn black....probably should get yours tested to see if anything will help....

When my kids were young, got a small above ground pool kit, filled it up with well water, added chlorine, and started the filter....all good..
till the next morning, water was pitch black!, like black coffee black....lol .
For some reason the kids didn't want to go in....

Found some treatment from a pool place and the water turned crystal clear, almost as we watched....strange.... grin

Mine goes from well to pressure tank to first 5 micron filter to second 5 micron filter to OX5 tank filter to water softer to filter bank with filters 3 4 and 5 then to water heater and house. Change the filters every month. Keep it full of salt. Dissolve a cup of rust out with a quart of hot water and poor it down the tube where the salt is...

For me I don't have egg smell or calcium build up or anything and the more orange I can make the white filter the less orange my water is, i.e. the softer my water is.

Should be good to go.
