I went to my new neurologist today at 1. Finally a really good one it seems. He ran me through every showed my old scans and explained them. If only I would have had this guy 5 years ago I would have taken this seriously sooner and likely have less damage.

He suggested I go downstairs to the ER and I would get admitted and I would get new scans done faster and with those scans he would confirm his diagnosis. Once confirmed they can start IV steroids for treatment that will work faster and better to get hopefully get rid of this relapse. BUT its 3 days of treatment.

So hear i sit in my room admitted still waiting on scans to be done With what looks like the next 3 days wasting time sitting in thei hospital room. Im going to go nuts and is not been but 10 hours so far.

Edit. But the alternative of wasting time and having more damage occur is worth it. This MS stuff is nothing g to mess around with apparently. And I have been screwing around for the last 5 years.

I'm sorry to hear that. MS is serious. As I recall, there are some new medications for MS that work much better treating it. So you're better off than those diagnosed a couple decades ago.

My wife has several autoimmune things going and has been tested for MS several times. Thankfully MS tests has always come back negative.

Matt, I hope they can stop the MS from progressing and that you start feeling better.

Yes, the doc said the new stuff has some options. Every 6 month you get an can get an IV infusion, or another one you give yourself s shot in the leg once a month, or daily pills. He said its a big improvement over times passed.

But it will weaken my immune system and could increase cancer risk( he down played that but i have a lot of cancer in my family so i caught it) . He said it takes a few weeks to get insurance approval and thought the shot in the leg would fit my life style best.

Thanks my fingers are crossed. Sure is hard to sit around in this hospital. Im missing work and family is at home. When I'm not at work my place is at home with the family not in a dang hospital room. On top of that I have deer to get packed and in the freezer so i can get thw coolers empty and butcher the last batch of chicken for the year.

If they would tell me what time things would get done I would keep the door shut head home and be back to get the test an meds. They already told me about all the places to walk around this hospital they won't miss me several hours.

Think I will see if there is any low carb in the cafeteria now infact

Good news is I'm was able to talke to the neurologist on call and a guy from the hospital came in and over heard me saying I would prefer to not have to stay 3 days starting today while she was giving me the oral option. He thout the amout was hig enough it would cause my stomach problems but brought up he may be able to get me set up at an off sight place that will be a walk in and out done in 40 min instead.

I said sounds great just make sure my insurance covers it. It will and they could get me secdualed so I was released after my first infusion.

The bad news is yes my existing damage had enlarged and I have more damage some larger spots.than the old enlarged spots. So a 100% confirmation of Ms. The meds will suppres my immune system, have an increased risk of cancer, and incfeas the likelihood of geting shingles, an irritation if on the body trunk but bad news if in you eyes or head. So time to weigh the pros.and cons but really is not much choice bu to let my body destroy my brain and get worse or try to slow it down.

At least I feel more justified now in working all the hours I have in the last 3 years working on getting my finances in a beter spot if I do end up not able to continue to work in the future. Hopefully that won't happen but is a big load off knowing its a possibility with MS. Turns the Questining did/am I doing the right thing being away so much working all those 80 - 100 hr weeks to Yes I did it and it It may be tight but my family will be ok if that happens and the planning and sacrifices did waht I hoped to accomplish.

Hopefully these steroid infusions get me back to feeling more normal and the meds hold relapse at bay.

have your crew stop by the library and get a bunch of DVDs and watch movies , that was what we did last time it was 4 days in the hospital

best to get the care now rather than get put off weeks waiting on appointments.

hang in there

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Ask the docs about high dosing vitamin D and taking testosterone. There are several studies showing T has repaired myelin and multiple books written about treating numerous diseases, MS included, with extremely high doses of D3.

They will tell you theyve never heard of either and tell you that you will OD on D3. They do not want MS to be reversible, because the money wouldnt be pouring in like it is for just preventing further damage.
