Depends on the bike. Shovelheads/Panheads/Knuckleheads are needy compared to the modern twins.

Can’t believe there aren’t a lot of Harley riders here, are we timid? Doesn’t sound like a member of the rubber knife gang. Been mostly a dirt rider my whole life, never felt completely comfortable on the highway. And like it or not the USA has never built a competitive off road, or track dirt bike.

I have a 99 fatboy,14 ultra cvo and a custom built hardtail with an evo motor. Depends on the bike for maintenance. Fatboy is the cheapest of the 3 to maintain. CVO the most comfortable. Chopper was my father's and hasn't been ridden much the past 2 years.

I have a 14 StreetGlide. Maintenance costs are minimal. Got 33k on it and it’s just been oil changes, brakes and tires.

I have 3 all in FLH format. 95 Road King, 04 Ultra Classic and 11 Ultra Limited .

I suppose it takes a $100 bill each bike. I do my own service so oil , filters , tires and occasional batteries are the expense. I manage about 4000 miles a year between the three.

Sounds like Line Jumper hasn’t spent much time around a flat track !

Had a 97 sportster 1200 custom for about 10 yrs. Never got anything bigger. Enjoyed it but the way this area is getting overpopulated i figured i would live longer if it was gone so now it is. Everyone pulls out in front of a motorcycle

2008 V-Rod, straight drag pipes no baffles, fast as heck, not street legal, tons of fun. Low maintenance costs per year like $100 or less. Tickets are outrageous. I do most of my own service but take it in for serious dyno work and brakes. New tires next year. I will let the shop swap them. Tires last 3000-4000 miles. It is 150+ mph fast. But being a drag bike it is extremely fast. Sucks to ride in Alaska. My bike hates it in town and the Alaska State Troopers hate it on the highways. Only bike I ever rode that makes me smile every time I ride it. The adrenaline dump never gets old. It's worth the costs to me. 6 month riding season up here at the most. Our roads suck too.

I haven't ridden since the early 80s. Never had to worry about maintenance cost as Harley took care of all those costs on their bikes Working in Engineering, I had access to just about any bike I wanted to ride.

I have a 2003 Heritage gunmetal pearl. Got it new and has 55000 miles now. Just put new tires on for $800. Quite the machine.
