Yesterday the yotes were yapping from early morning till about noon up in the hills. Not all that common to ear them till mid day like that. I would guess a gut pile or a kill site they are feasting on.

What is your thought on them being so vocal in those day light hours.

Lotta things.
Dispersing of young is starting to happen, that stirs em up until the heavy hunting pressure starts in a week or so and pushes them more nocturnal.

When I was hunting in Colorado, most evenings they would start yapping. It amazed me on how many.

1 would start and it seemed like coyote for miles away answered,

As to why? No idea.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Yep, evening is a common thing here and like you said once one starts they answer from all over. Mid day yapping and being vocal isn't a rare thing and have noticed through the years if the are on a kill site they seem to be very vocal. Has anyone ever noticed that before?

It's funny that you mention that. I live right on the edge of town, but I heard coyotes throughout the day yesterday. Towards evening I heard a few wolves join in as well. No idea what had the coyotes going during the day.

They were singing in the daytime last week out in the black hills well after sunup maybe they are excited about fall as much as we are. I’m sick of summer and the bugs/ heat it brings.

Moved a plastic bag in the steel building the other day it had piles of millipedes that would fill half fill a plastic bucket must of been eating the piles of pill bugs from this spring. It seems the bugs take turns invading us here with earwigs, midges, millipedes, pill bugs, spiders, grasshoppers, hornets and crickets they come in droves.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Change of season like Osky said maybe many things. I remember a kill site my son and I had about 4 years ago the evening before. The next morning the dogs were on that site calling and raising a fuss all morning. It is like a dinnah bell and it is time to feast.

Here, with all the crops coming down, the coyotes move to the wooded ridge along the backside of my farm and are much more vocal, as they squabble over the reduced territory. I hear coyotes all year, but less when they are denning. This time of year, once the crops are down, I hear more coyotes, by number, than the whole rest of the year.

I can’t think of a better sound than a coyote howling away. The song of the prairie. Also enjoy the cheerful singing of a meadowlark in spring!
